A Cinderella storybook about me

I won a Cinderella storybook

As a little girl, I moved often with my mother, who after the divorce with dad, Michael Neskowich lived in Senta, where she hosted fashion shows and a child beauty pageant.

I was a judge at this beauty pageant, even though I was just a little girl and there were grown up judges there too. It was a fun experience. In Senta, I saw the Smurfs as part of a childrens concert for my own birthday, however I am sure many children also see Smurfs, in movie theaters especially.

One Easter in Senta was very interesting- I was sleeping in my bed and in the morning I saw scratches on the door of my room. It turned out my mom, Lily went with a knife in the middle of the night to carve the door so it would seem like the Easter Bunny did it. I searched for Easter Eggs in the backyard of our house in Senta, which was a big house.

I competed in a pretty reading County contest, and I won a Cinderella Choose your own adventure book. The book is about me, and how I am Cinderellas helper, who helps her get married to Prince Charming however I also meet a Prince in the fairytale, it's just not Cinderella's Prince Charming. The book depicts me as a brunette hero who goes on to help Cinderella in many things, and based off of my choices I determine the fate of Cinderella.

I loved the contest, and it was a lot of fun but also I had to really focus on it. I won the book when I was eight years old. It is amazing to have a book about me as a hero, and the fact that I am drawn in the book makes it all the more amazing. There are many books of this type, from Disney Choose your own adventure, but this was given to me as an award for being the winner of the reading contest.

My mother Lily Turnaic was born to Svetozar Santa Turnaic and Mary Krizan. Mary was a kindergarden teacher from the town of Ada. The town Ada is mostly a Hungarian town. Svetozar or Santa Claus Turnaic was born into the wealthy serbian family from the Serbian town of Kanjiza, or Magyarkanisza (the Hungarian name for the town ).

Great grandfather, Milos Turnaic, as grandfather Santa Claus once said, had origins from Croatia, from Lika to be exact. On Wikipedia, it says that Kanjiza was mostly under the influence of the royal Habsburg Austrian family. My mom Lily often said how our family also served as guards of Maria Teresia, an Empress before arriving to Kanjiza and settling here.

My mom was born as an only child. She always wanted a brother or sister, and she never liked the idea that she was an only child. She was known in the town as a very pretty little girl.Mary, my grandmother, her mother always treated her as she would any other child. She raised my mother to think that she was equal to the children she was teaching in kindergarden, and that she is just as the rest of the children. Santa Turnaic loved his daughter.Santa Claus Turnaic loved to go fishing, and was very much all for family and for his wife and daughter.

Santa preformed in the Vigado,a building located in the big park of Kanjiza, that served as a restaurant and a castle, according to one online article of HetNap,or Seven Days,a Subotica newspaper. Mom grew up very much loved by my Aunt,Nada Turnaic, who was mom's Aunt as well.

Nada Turnaic was like a mother to Lily, my mother. She took her to trips, travels and that is how my mom saw the world,or at least Europe. Mom loved to read, she was a very smart child.Mary, her mother took her poems to Konc Istvan,a poet and writer who was a local. He said that her poems were really good and that she should just keep going. Konc Istvan has a statue in the small park in Kanjiza, in front of the Town Hall.

Mom finished high school in New Knezevac, a town near Kanjiza. Mom was born in New Knezevac also. During her high school years, she was a singer in a high school band called School Crickets. Lily loves to cook, that is her passion, and many people often said that she should have opened up a restaurant. Lily was always very proud of her origin. Namely, the Turnaic family also had many ties with serbian Ministers. Milan Acimovic, a Serbian Minister of Internal Affairs was the godfather of both Nada, her Aunt and of her father ,Santa Turnaic. When he was just a boy, Santa Turnaic met Kokorev, the personal driver of the last Romanov Tsar.

His father, Milos Turnaic was the leader of the radical party in Kanjiza of the serbian Minister Milan Stojadinovic, whom passed away in Buenos Aires, Argetina ( South America ) and who worked with Juan Peron, the former Argentina president. Milan Acimovic visited the Turnaic family in Kanjiza, and he stood at the revealing of the monument dedicated to a Karadjordjevic,a serbian royal in Kanjiza that was since removed.

Lily's mother, Mary Turnaic who has passed away was Hungarian. She had a difficult past, with her Hungarian ancestors being taken to labour camps for being Hungarian. One of her ancestors was shot down at Curug, a Serbian city for being hungarian when he was 18.

There is a monument in Curug dedicated to such victims.Mary was very proud of being Hungarian. She always tried to teach me to speak the language and I learned how to speak Hungarian as my mother said, better than most Hungarians in Hungary.

Santa Claus often said how he knew a man who transported merchandise after the conference at Jalta, where Franklin Roosevelt, Winston Churchill and Stalin were.
