Researchers polled teens still living at home and revealed a resounding 68 percent of mums and dads are considered deeply UNCOOL by their kids – with the least cool parents living in Oxford (89 percent), Bristol (84 percent), Glasgow (84 percent) and Edinburgh (83 percent).

89 percent of teens admit they are embarrassed by their mum and dad, with dads (54 percent) coming out less hip than mums (46 percent).

The survey, in conjunction with Netflix movie, Back in Action, also revealed a definitive list of signs you’re an uncool parent, according to teens, with attempting viral TikTok dances (48 percent), using youth slang (44 percent), having a ‘Karen’ haircut (30 percent) and wearing skinny jeans (22 percent) featuring in the list.

One in three (30 percent) British kids say the un-coolest trait is attempting to add their children’s friends on social media, while 40 percent say the height of embarrassment is when their folks try to make friends with their group of pals.

It’s no surprise that a quarter (25 percent) of parents KNOW that their teenage children deem them uncool, with a WHOPPING 95 percent agreeing that youngsters aged between 13 and 19 are regularly embarrassed by their mum and dad.

Half (49 percent) try to laugh off being thought of as uncool, while one in ten (nine percent) pretend it doesn’t matter to them, even though it does. In contrast, seven percent try to be cooler in front of their kids.

The survey also found two thirds (64 percent) have told their children a white lie to make themselves cooler, or to encourage them to behave, telling an average of 576 porkies a year.

Despite this, three quarters (73 percent) think they are better parents than their parents were, with a further 88 percent believing they are a cooler mum or dad than their own parents. 84 percent are convinced their children think they are cooler than their mum and dad.

More than half (56 percent) of the parents surveyed said they wish they had a closer relationship with their teens.

Netflix’s new movie, Back in Action, which stars Cameron Diaz and Jamie Foxx, tells the story of two former CIA spies who give up life as CIA spies to start a family. However, after fifteen years, and with two teenagers, Matt (Jamie Foxx) and Emily (Cameron Diaz) jump back into the world of espionage when their cover is blown.

Despite being cringeworthy, 91 percent of teens say they wouldn’t change a thing about their parents.
