Matalan urgently recalls children's toys - over biohazard risk
Matalan is urgently recalling a number of children's toys that they were flogging - as they are a potential BIOHAZARD.
The retail giant issued an urgent recall warning about the squishy dinosaur egg and unicorn egg toys after discovering they don't meet toy safety regulations.

The product presents a 'serious microbiological and choking risk' as the fidget toy may 'burst during normal use', which could lead to infants 'choking'.
Worryingly, the toys also pose a 'microbiological risk' after it was discovered that the solution inside the squishy toy contains an 'excess of aerobic microbials', which could cause illness if breathed in or even if they are handled.

In light of this, Matalan is urging anyone who bought the toys to stop using them immediately and have pulled the product from their shelves online and in-store.
Shoppers, who bought the toys between March 31, 2025 and May 23, 2025, are urged to return the product to their local Matalan store for a full refund.
The recall notice affects Dino Eggs with the product code F163586 and barcode 5050565670175, as well as Squishy Unicorn Egg toys with the product code F163591 and barcode 5050565670182.
Batch numbers 981187, 981189, 981197, 982866 and 982867 are being recalled.
A Matalan spokesperson said: "It's come to our attention that the above toys don't meet our usual high standards for quality and safety, as there's a risk of the item bursting and contents being released. As customer safety is our highest priority, we are immediately recalling these toys.
"If you have bought any of the toys shown above, please don't use the product and return it at your earliest convenience to your nearest Matalan store where our staff will be happy to give you a full refund. You don't need to produce a receipt to claim a refund.
"If you've bought the above for someone else or know someone who has one then please let them know immediately about this notice. We pride ourselves on delivering great quality at great prices and we're really sorry for any inconvenience caused. Please note this recall does not affect any other Matalan product."
An Office for Product Safety & Standards spokesperson said: "The toys present a serious microbiological and choking risk as they can burst easily during normal use, releasing small parts and an aqueous solution. This solution was found to contain an excess of aerobic microbials. If the user inhales or handles the solution, they could come into contact with these microbials. This may cause adverse health effects for certain consumers, such as those who are immunocompromised."
