Don Cheadle was nominated for his part in Marvel’s The Falcon and the Winter Soldier – in which his cameo lasted a total of 98 seconds

The 73rd Emmy Awards are due to get underway in September, with nominations being announced on Tuesday night.

While The Crown and The Mandalorian continued to ride the wave of awards both series have enjoyed with 24 nominations each, other shows such as comedy series Ted Lasso and HBO’s Handmaid’s Tale also raked in nominations.

The biggest surprise of the night was Don Cheadle’s ‘Best Guest Actor’ nod for his role in Marvel’s The Falcon and the Winter Soldier – in which his cameo lasted a total of 98 seconds.

How did Don Cheadle react to his nomination?

Following his nominations, he and many fans took to Twitter to express their surprise at The Television Academy’s decision to recognise his performance in the 98 second scene.

The Hotel Rwanda star features in the premiere episode of the Marvel show, but is not a regular character throughout.

Cheadle took to social media to let fans know he was equally as taken by surprise.

He tweeted: “Thanks, well wishers. Sorry, haters. Agreed, [shrugging emoji]ers. I don’t really get it either. Buuuuuuuuuut on we go…”
