Fans of Stranger Things have been teased with a new trailer that may indicate the hit Netflix show is set to return in 2021.

There is still no official release date for the show, but the short teaser showed some cryptic messages, that may mean a full-length trailer will be released in May.

When is the Stranger Things season 4 release date?

There is currently no official release date for Stranger Things season 4.

Cast members have hinted at a 2021 release, with David Harbour, who playsJim Hopper, revealing that episodes were “supposed to come out early next year”, although he admitted he didn’t have “authority” on that.

In late October, Natalia Dyer (Nancy) told The Independent that it's going to be "a while" before we see anything new.

After a near two-year wait, Netflix shared a cryptic teaser trailer for the upcoming trailer.

The latest trailer was released on the official YouTube page for the show under the title ‘HNL Control Room’.

In the trailer we see seven analogue TV screens arranged in a circle, showing static noise and turning on one at a time for a few seconds, displaying disconnected images.

The collection of images are recognisable, including a door handle, a chessboard and an eight ball, all with blood splatters on them.

The TVs show what looks like CCTV footage from what appears to be a show.

The description of the video teases more to come: "Due to technical difficulties, Hawkins National Laboratory will be closed until further notice.

"We will be back in service tomorrow at 9:00AM ET".

This may mean a full trailer will be released later today.

Who will be in the Stranger Things season 4 cast?

Stranger Things season 4 looks set to bring back its youthful, larger-than-life cast, including Millie Bobby Brown as Eleven, Fimm Wolfhard as Lucas, Caleb McLaughlin as Lucas, and Gaten Matarazzo as Dustin.

The show will also see the return of characters like Will (Noah Schnapp), Max (Sadie Sink), Steve (Joe Keery), Nancy (Natalia Dyer), Jonathan (Charlie Heaton), Robin (Maya Hawke), and Joyce (Winona Ryder), among others.

Stranger Things season 4 will contain eight episodes. This number falls in line with seasons 1 and 3, with 2 being the only deviation with nine episodes.

The Stranger Things Writers Twitter account revealed the title of the first episode of Stranger Things season 4. According to the title page of the 401 script, the season 4 premiere will be titled “The Hellfire Club.”
