The Pact reached its thrilling conclusion on Tuesday (1 June) evening after gripping viewers over the last four weeks.

The Wales-set crime thriller, The Pact, followed a group of four friends as they battled with the consequences of a work prank gone wrong.

As with any addictive murder-mystery, viewers have been quick to ask whether there is going to be a new series of the show.

Will there be a second season of The Pact?

There are currently no plans on whether The Pact will return for a second season.

The show finished with a conclusive finale, tying up the loose ends in the final episode, meaning there may not be many directions for the story to go.

The show’s creator, Peter McTighe, spoke to The Express, and revealed there could be scope to delve deeper into the series in the future, but a new story would need to told.

McTighe said: What I really wanted to do with this show is to have a really strong payoff end resolution to the story.

"I didn't want it to be a show that left audiences really hanging for answers and have to wait another year to figure out what happened.

"I think it's a really satisfying resolution to the story. Having said that, I think there are plenty more stories we can tell under The Pact banner.

"But I think it just depends on how much audiences like the show and hopefully everyone watches it and wants more."

Lead actress Rakie Ayola also teased the potential for more seasons of the show. Speaking to Digital Spy, the actress said: “If you think about it, you could have a series where the world blows up and there’s nothing left except a blade of grass and if someone wanted to get 17 years out of it, they could.

“But as it is… it’s so beautifully formed. So you never know. We shouldn’t jinx it. These six episodes are worth investing in because they are fantastic and there really is a story that goes from A to Z.”

How did The Pact season one end?

The crime thriller waited right up to the final episode to reveal who Jack’s murderer was.

Anna’s (Laura Fraser) daughter Tamsin (Gabrielle Creevy) was revealed to be the one who murdered Jack.

The episode explained that she was pregnant and Jack was the father after a one night stand. Jack was desperate for her to get an abortion, continuing to put pressure on her to do so, and laughing at the fact her brother Ryan (Aled ap Steffan) attempted to convince him otherwise.

Tasmin was ready to tell their mum she was pregnant, but when they saw Anna and her friends putting drunk Jack in his boot, they followed him to the woods.

The finale revealed that when Jack was left alone, he revealed that he would be okay with Tasmin keeping the baby, but he would make her family’s lives miserable.

Tasmin found a plastic bag and used it to suffocate Jack before fleeing the scene.

What did the critics make of The Pact finale?

The Pact has received a mixed response from critics.

The final episode was praised by Digital Spy, where Megan Davies said the finale “delivers one last twist”.

Viewers were quick to praise the finale after it aired, with several taking to social media to share their thoughts.
