Love Island saw its first victim, in rather unorthodox circumstances, after Shannon was dumped from the island after two nights in the villa.

The 22-year-old model from Fife became the first contestant to be dumped in a shock twist on Wednesday night’s episode.

The exit was missing the usual dramatics involved in a Love Island dumping, with the producers instead leaving Shannon Singh to read a text message that said she would now leave the island.

Shannon Singh the first to exit

Shannon Singh became the first islander to be dumped from the series.

Her exit came after Chloe Burrows entered the villa in episode two (29 June) and went on a date with all five males contestants.

Burrows was then allowed to re-couple with the man of her choice. After choosing Aaron, Shannon was left without anyone to couple up with.

The Fife influencer then got a text from the producers saying ‘she was dumped from the island after being left single’.

Her departure came as a shock to the cast and viewers as she became the bookies' favourite to win after an impressive first episode.

Her departure is the earliest a contestant has ever been sent home, leaving after only 48 hours in the Mallorca villa.

Reflecting on the night, Shannon said, “I knew they were going to throw something in there, they always do. I knew it was going to be like she [Chloe] was going to take one of the guys. I just can't believe I forgot there were dumpings. I think all of us forgot there were dumpings. None of us really spoke about it.

"When I read it out Liberty was almost crying, she was like, ‘What?' I did get a little bit emotional and then I eased up."

Singh coupled up with Aaron on the first episode, but it became clear after the first day that there was no spark.

She won fans over after giving Toby the cold shoulder during a game in the second episode on Tuesday (29 June).

Speaking about her choice to couple up with Aaron, Chloe said: “When I first saw him, I thought he was absolutely gorgeous. Even though we haven’t really spent any time together at all, the time that we did spend was just so fab.

“The most important thing is you made me feel really comfortable which was my number one thing coming in.”

Love Island continues on Thursday (01 July) at 9pm on ITV2. All episodes are available to watch live and on catch-up via the ITV Hub.
