Love Islanders, celebrities, and canine chaos: 101 Dalmatians musical throws glamorous gala night in London

London’s Eventim Apollo was alive with puppy-powered magic last night as 101 Dalmatians: The Musical officially opened its West End run with a spectacular red carpet gala performance. With tail-wagging excitement both on and off stage, the evening welcomed a host of celebrity guests and Love Island stars who turned heads in celebration of the classic canine caper’s theatrical return.

Taking centre stage in the new musical adaptation is Sydnie Christmas, winner of Britain’s Got Talent, dazzling the audience as the fabulously villainous Cruella de Vil. She’s joined by Jeff Brazier, making his West End stage debut as Casper, and Aston Merrygold of JLS fame as Jasper. The cast also includes Laura Baldwin, Linford Johnson as Pongo, and Emma Thornett as Perdi, bringing heart and humour to this beloved story of puppies, peril, and perseverance.

The red carpet was just as star-studded. Guests included:

Zoe Birkett, powerhouse singer and former Pop Idol finalist.

Kimberly Wyatt, former Pussycat Doll and Dancing on Ice champion.

Ellie Dadd, EastEnders actress known for her role as Amy Mitchell.

Love Island’s Remell Mullings and Rheo Parnell ride solo as Shea Mannings and Caprice Alexandra cozy up on the carpet, adding youthful glam to the night’s festivities.

Adapted from Dodie Smith’s beloved novel, the show follows the adventures of Pongo and Perdi as they attempt to rescue their litter from the fashion-obsessed Cruella. Expect spectacular puppetry, toe-tapping original music, and a high-energy ensemble cast that brings this timeless story to life in dazzling style.

Directed by Bill Buckhurst with music and lyrics by Douglas Hodge and choreography by Lucy Hind, the show runs for a strictly limited season from 18 July to 30 August 2025. Set design by David Woodhead and costume design by Sarah Mercadé add whimsical charm to the production, complemented by clever puppetry from Jimmy Grimes.

This one-of-a-kind musical experience is perfect for all ages, with tickets starting from just £22. Whether you're a dog lover, theatre fan, or simply seeking some joyful summer entertainment, 101 Dalmatians: The Musical promises an unforgettable night of family-friendly fun.
