This Halloween, touring a crematorium, having a sleepover at an abandoned jail, or ghost hunting in a castle, haunted mansion or library is now something you can do, thanks to events marketplace Eventbrite.

Eventbrite currently lists around 3,500 Halloween themed events across the UK, and more than 150,000 fans of the scary season have already signed up to them. Most of these events take place in London, followed by Birmingham, Glasgow, Edinburgh and Manchester.

Eventbrite’s Sebastian Boppert says: “We’ve noticed a growing number of immersive events hosted at unusual ‘haunted’ venues this year, from a tour at a Crematorium and Second World War POW camp, to a sleepover at a 19th century Scottish jail and a ghost hunt for a mysterious headless drumming boy at Dover Castle. It appears that many historic venues and buildings are tapping into the vast appetite for immersive experiences to raise additional funds for their sites. Many of these events have sold out already, proving them right.

Eerie tour of the Three Counties Crematorium and the grounds behind the WW2 Prisoner Camp in Essex – explore the grounds around the Three Counties Crematorium, and for those that are brave enough, also the Second World War Prisoner of War camp which housed Italian prisoners until their surrender in 1943. This location has apparently shown ‘heavy orb activity’ and regular sightings of ghost soldiers. Ghost-hunting equipment is allowed and on-site Clairvoyants are on hand to assist. Over 16s only.

Halloween Sleepover at Jedburgh Jail - Jedburgh Jail is a sinister place that echoes the signs of its violent past. With a heavy and oppressive atmosphere, many have fled investigations on a night or refused to go into certain places. The jail, built in 1823, has seen much torture and violence so it is no surprise that the energy still lingers here. Apparitions and dark shadows have been seen and cell doors have slammed shut of their own accord. Flashes of light are regularly seen and cold spots, breezes and blasts of air are felt when they could be no other explanation. Over 18s only. NOT for the faint of heart or easily scared!

Overnight Ghost Hunt at Mansion House in Cardiff - This grade II listed building was built in 1896. Over the decades visitors have reported unexplained chills, faint whispers, and the sensation of being watched, some have reported glimpses of a gentleman in Victorian attire. James Howell, the original owner of the Mansion House, is said to linger within its walls. On moonlit nights, strains of piano music are said to emanate from the ballroom. Yet, when the room is investigated, it stands empty, the keys untouched. Are you brave enough to spend the night here? This sleepover includes a full guided investigation with paranormal experts and use of specialist state-of-the-art equipment.
