Greggs reveals opening date of champagne bar in Newcastle Fenwick branch - price & how to book your spot
The reservation-only pop-up, which will be open from October 24 until December 31 in the Newcastle branch of Fenwick, promises a unique twist on the no-frills bakery, with its menu served alongside high-end bubbles like Louis Roederer Cristal, costing £425 a bottle.
Located in Fenwick's food hall, the bar is designed to seat 16 customers around a curved bar, with a 1920s Paris wine bar theme. Guests will be able to ring vintage crystal bells for refills of champagne, including options like Bollinger and Laurent Perrier.

Hide AdGreggs described the pop-up as offering an "iconic savoury menu of bakes and rolls" paired with handpicked champagne, making it the only venue in the area to serve these exclusive drinks by the glass. For those looking for more affordable options, the menu will include bubbles like £10 glasses of Ca di Alte prosecco or the £11 “pink jammie fizz” cocktail, inspired by Greggs' jam doughnuts.
Leo Fenwick, strategic partnerships director at Fenwick, called the collaboration between Greggs and the department store a reunion of two north-east icons. "After the success of last year’s pop-up, the champagne bar offers a fun and truly unique customer experience," he said. Last year’s French dining-themed "Bistro Greggs" attracted 8,000 diners, with its popularity driven by the playful presentation of dishes such as steak bakes served under silver cloches.

The Christmas pop-up will feature a menu created by Fenwick’s executive head chef, Mark Reid, which includes Greggs' steak bake paired with peppercorn aioli and a sausage, bean, and cheese melt served with bloody mary ketchup. Greggs’ classic sausage rolls will be elevated with a hot honey chilli sauce.
Hannah Squirrell, customer director at Greggs, said: “While champagne and Greggs might not be the most immediate food and drink pairing, we’re convinced the pop-up will be a hit with Christmas shoppers. Hopefully everyone who visited us last year, and many more, will enjoy the fun and unique experience that’s been created.”
