For fans of the hit police comedy, the wait is almost over as E4 will begin airing the eighth season later this month.

However, sadly season 8 will be the last outing for the team at the 99th precinct - as Peralta becomes a full time parent, and Holt and Santiago begin their citywide police reform program.

When is season 8 of Brooklyn Nine Nine coming to the UK?

E4 will air the final season of the police comedy to the UK on Wednesday 20 April.

It will begin at 9pm, with a double bill of the first two episodes.

There are 10 episodes, with a running time of 21 to 23 minutes.

The eighth season premiered in the US in August last year - meaning UK fans have waited over 8 months to catch up.

Who is in the cast of Brooklyn Nine Nine?

Andre Braugher (Glory and Homicide: Life on the Street) plays Captain Raymond Holt, a slightly unconventional commanding officer who is in charge of a team of detectives in the 99th precinct of the New York Police Department.

Andy Samberg (Palm Springs and That’s My Boy) plays the protagonist, a laid-back yet talented detective named Jake Peralta.

Peralta’s love interest, Amy Santiago is played by Melissa Fumero (A Stone in the Water and DriverX), and his best friend and partner, Charles Boyle is played by Joe Lo Truglio (Superbad and Wreck-It Ralph).

Stephanie Beatriz (Jessie and Encanto) plays badass Rosa Diaz and Terry Cruz (White Chicks and Everybody Hates Chris) plays nervous father Lieutenant Terry Jeffords.

Working alongside them is Hitchcock and Scully, played by Dirk Blocker (Baa Baa Black Sheep) and Joel McKinnon Miller (The Trueman Show and Men in Black II) respectively.
