Liam Payne death: Did Maya Henry’s book predict the singer's death and is the book about him?

The One Direction singer died on Wednesday, October 16 after falling from the third-floor balcony at the CasaSur Hotel in Buenos Aires in Argentina. According to reports Payne died after suffering very serious injuries incompatible with life. Local authorities have said they will conduct an autopsy and investigate the circumstances surrounding the singer’s death.

Payne had been in a two-year relationship with TikTok influencer Kate Cassidy but his ex-girlfriend model Maya Henry has been raising questions around the singer's tragic death. 

Maya Henry recently instructed lawyers to issue a cease and desist letter to the pop star after accusing him of repeatedly contacting her. The daughter of multi-millionaire personal-injury lawyer Thomas J. Henry claimed he had gone to extraordinary lengths in an attempt to contact her. 

The Texan model and Liam Payne were in an on-off relationship for three years. They began dating in 2019, and got engaged in 2020 but called it off, and finally ended their relationship in May 2022. 

What is Maya Henry’s book ‘Looking Forward’ about?

Two years after the couple’s split, in May 2024 Henry released her fictional book Looking Forward. The book is about a model Mallory Hunt who meets former boyband ‘5Forward’ member Oliver Smith. Despite their fame, attention, and personal demons the pair fall in love.  

Did Maya Henry predict Liam Payne’s balcony fall?

In one chapter of the book Maya wrote: “Just come in for a second, 'I say, fighting to keep my voice calm. 'I mean. What are you doing out there anyway?' 'What the f*** do you think I'm doing?', he bellows, loud enough for half the town to hear. 'I'm going to f****** kill myself ok! I want to die!'"

However, in the book it is the character Mallory who falls from the balcony and is unharmed. Looking Forward has many similarities between Maya and Liam Payne’s real-life relationship but in a recent interview the model explained the book is fictional but was “inspired by true events.” 

The fictional story is chilling to read following the real life circumstances surrounding Liam Payne’s death. It also raises the question has this happened before? Since news broke that Payne had died, a source close to Henry said she was “in shock”.
