Liam Payne: What was the singer's net worth and who will inherit his fortune?

Tributes for the star have been pouring in since the news broke that the singer had died aged 31. On Wednesday October 16 Payne died after falling from the third floor of his balcony at the CasaSur Hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina. 

According to reports the 1D singer suffered serious injuries “incompatible with life”. Local authorities have said they will conduct an autopsy and investigate the circumstances surrounding the singer’s death. 

Liam Payne rose to fame as part of the boyband One Direction. The group, which also consisted of Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Louis Tomlinson and Zayn Malik had global success with hits Perfect, Night Changes and What Makes You Beautiful. One Direction released a joint statement on Thursday that said: “We're completely devastated by the news of Liam's passing.” 

What was Liam Payne’s net worth? 

Liam Payne's net worth at the time of his death was estimated to be over $70 million. This was mainly from his time with One Direction - the group released five albums and sold more than 70 million albums worldwide - and solo success after the band went on an indefinite hiatus in 2016. 

The singer recently moved in to a mansion in Florida with girlfriend Kate Cassidy. He owned a home in Buckinghamshire and he previously owned properties in Surrey and a mansion in Calabasas, CA, which was reportedly sold in 2021. 

Who will inherit Liam Payne’s fortune?

In a podcast interview with Logan Paul in 2022 Liam Payne said: “My life now is his [Liam’s son Bear], my money is his. I have actually got several companies that are up and running that I know he can run one day if he wants to or [he can sell them].”

The singer wasn’t married and as he was only 31 when he died he may not have had a will. However, according to the law his son should inherit his entire fortune but as Bear - who is also the son of singer Cheryl Cole - is only seven-years-old it's likely Liam’s fortune will be given to his next of kin, his parents, until his son is 18.
