Mum of late TkTok star Marquay The Goat pays tribute to 24 year old son as she launches funeral fundraiser

The mum of a 24-year-old content creator who died suddenly has paid tribute to her son while appealing for donations to help pay for his funeral.

Marquay The Goat, real name Marquay Collins, died last month, with his mum announcing the news via social media to his 7 million fans.

Sonja Collins wrote on her own Instagram page on Wednesday November 26: “My heart is broken. My baby, my last one, my SnuggaBug, my Marquay is no longer here with me. He was the sweetest person he didn’t have a mean bone in his body. I needed him longer than God allowed me to have him.”

Marquay had gained his large following for posting about his love of fast cars and also posting food reviews. He was also known for his comedic sketches which included dances and doing dubs. His parents also sometimes featured in his content, when he would prank them.

His last video had been uploaded the day before (Tuesday November 25), and so news of his death came as a shock to his fans.

Now, his mum has returned to her Instagram page with a further tribute as she continues to grieve for her son. She wrote: “ I want to say I woke up thinking about Marquay but I can’t because I didn’t sleep a lot but I can say I never stop thinking about Marquay.

“I loved my last one so much and I want to thank God for letting me have him for 24 years. He spoiled me plain and simple but I wanted to spoil him again like me and his dad used to.”

She continued to urge her followers to not take their friends and family for granted. “Hug and love on your loved ones because you never know when it will be the last time. I forever hugged and loved on him not because I knew about the days to come but because I loved him so much and I wanted him to know we would always love and be here for him.”

In another post, Sonja shared a link to a GoFundMe page she has set up and appealed to her followers to donate money if they could to help her family pay for Marquay’s funeral, which will be held this Sunday (December 7).

On the page, she wrote: “Marquay touched countless lives with his kindness, generosity, and his mission to make everyone around him happy. He stood up against bullying, having experienced it himself as a child, and always went out of his way to help others—he would literally give you the shirt off his back if you needed it.

“He was verified on all his platforms, but more importantly, he was loved by so many for his genuine heart and the joy he brought to others.”

Explaining why she had set up the fundraiser, she said: “We were devastated to learn that Marquay did not have life insurance, as we had believed. The financial burden of his funeral and burial is overwhelming, and we are reaching out for help to give him the farewell he deserves.”

The page has a fundraising target of $20,000 but as of the afternoon of Thursday December 4 has already raised more than $15,000 of that.

Marquay’s cause of death has not been revealed.
