Beetlejuice 2 | As the striped suit is set to make a return, what are some other iconic Tim Burton looks?
As the striped suit worn by Michael Keaton is making a return in ‘Beetlejuice 2,’ NationalWorld looks at some other iconic looks from Tim Burton’s filmography

It might be 35 years, but that iconic striped suit worn by Michael Keaton in ‘Beetlejuice’ is set to have the moth balls wiped clean and given a good old steam clean. As confirmed by Comicbook.com, longtime costume designer for Tim Burton, Colleen Atwood, confirmed that the famous costume from the classic film will be brought back for the 2024 sequel.
"Well, Beetlejuice has to have a striped suit. It's like doing Alice in Wonderland needs a blue dress, Atwood revealed. “How long they wear it is another thing. But Beetlejuice, that is the quintessential Beetlejuice. Strangely, it was Michael, he thinks the burgundy tux is the quintessential Beetlejuice, not the striped suit. But the world happens to disagree with him, so it's a funny thing.”

Though the burgundy tuxedo is an iconic look for the character, the black-and-white striped suit pretty much became synonymous with the character, with its use also included in the Saturday morning television cartoon of the same name and countless Halloween costumes tapping into the style of the ghost with the most.
Style being an important part of Tim Burton’s cinematography, from the flowing gowns seen in ‘Dark Shadows’ featuring Johnny Depp to the gothic, funeralcore style of Wednesday Addams in the Burton-produced Netflix series, ‘Wednesday,’ we wondered what are some of the most memorable looks from characters within Burton’s filmography.
But this humble writer not really having too much of an eye for style (I’m still wearing a flannel shirt in 2023 and a band T-shirt,) we turn to Marina Licht for her take on what we felt are some of the iconic looks from Tim Burton’s plethora of options from his catalogue of films.
What are some other iconic looks from Tim Burton’s filmography?
Edward Scissorhands (Edward Scissorhands)

Marina: I won't have a word said against Edward Scissorhands as in the film and character! His 'crazy' hair and extreme gothic look contrasted perfectly with Winona Ryder's more wholesome style
Lydia Deetz (Beetlejuice)

Marina: Winona Ryder was the original cool goth girl, didn't everyone want to be her? She seems to have translated her real look at the time into her character.
Sweeney Todd (Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street)

Marina: Johnny Depp is very much Johnny Depp style Sweeney Todd rather than Sweeney Todd as someone of that time would have been expected to have worn a fitted jacket and top hat rather than a leather jacket, but hey, this is a Tim Burton/Johnny Depp ensemble.
Martian Girl (Mars Attacks!)

Marina: This is like a 1970s Desperate Housewife meets Betty Draper from Mad Men gone mad...
The Knave of Hearts (Alice in Wonderland)

Marina: Looks like Macbeth meets the inside of Tim Burton's fantastical mind
