Boiling Point is an updated and extended adaptation of the 2019 short film of the same name, also directed by Barantini.

What is the plot of Boiling Point?

The film follows head chef Andy Jones, played by Stephen Graham, as he struggles to keep orders coming out and maintain the morale of his cooks during the busiest day of the year.

Andy has to deal with a frustrated and overworked line of cooks, new recruits who are out of their depth and a floor manager with very little management experience.

To pile on more pressure, the man who loaned Andy the money to set up the restaurant has come along to offer his unasked for advice, and he’s brought a restaurant critic date along too.

We are also brought into the world of the waiting staff as they deal with arrogant poser customers who order the most expensive wine on the menu but want their lamb cooked until it is grey.

A troupe of ‘influencers’ who have a few thousand Instagram followers between them and a nervous boyfriend about to propose complete the chaotic scene, and set the stage for 90 minutes of anxiety-inducing viewing.

Who is in the Boiling Point cast?

Stephen Graham as Andy Jones

Graham takes on the leading role, which he also played in 2019’s Boiling Point, embodying the completely overwhelmed head chef.

As Andy tries to keep a lid on the restaurant and make sporadic calls to his estranged wife and son, it looks like he may come undone.

Graham is a titan of British cinema, starring as skinhead Combo in This is England, and Tommy in Guy Ritchie’s Snatch.

His television roles include Time where he starred as a prison warden alongside Sean Bean, and the latest season of Peaky Blinders.

Jason Flemyng as Alastair Skye

Skye is a domineering and relatively vindictive ‘pal’ of Andy’s. Having loaned Andy £200,000 to start up his restaurant he now feels he is owed his endless thanks and fealty.

Syke picks one of the busiest nights of the year to come to the restaurant with his critic date and needle Andy and his culinary decisions.

Essentially, he is an eminently smackable bastard.

Flemyng is also known for a role in Snatch, where he played hapless gangster Darren.

He played George Mayhew in the counterfactual historical drama SS-GB, and Lord James Harwood in the DC origin series Pennyworth.

Vinette Robinson as Carly

Carly is arguably the hero of the film, keeping the food coming as all around her staff start to implode.

She has no problem telling Andy, her manager and the waiting staff what she thinks of their platitudes and useless advice.

Robinson previously played Helen Hopewell in Waterloo Road and Sgt Sally Donovan in Sherlock opposite Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman.

Alice Feetham as Beth

Beth is the beleaguered restaurant manager who just can’t seem to get the staff to like her.

Lurching from one bad call to another, overbooking the venue and putting her mistakes onto the chefs and waiters might have something to do with her unfavourability.

Feetham played Lilly Rundle in DCI Banks, and Bernie in Save Me, as well as the unnamed manager in the original Boiling Point short.

Where can I watch Boiling Point?

Boiling Point is available to watch on Netflix now.
