Netflix’s newest action-packed film, Red Notice, was co-produced by Johnson and also stars him as an FBI agent.

So, what’s it about and when is it released? This is what you need to know.

Red Notice plot and trailer

A Red Notice is the highest level of notice applied for by the FBI, reserved for the world’s most wanted.

When a red notice is given out in the pursuit of one of the world’s most wanted art thieves, ‘The Bishop,’ FBI agent John Hartley is assigned to the case.

In his search for one thief, he finds himself relying on their rival, fellow art thief Nolan Booth, to help him track her down.

Netflix says in the movie’s synopsis: “The high-flying adventure that ensues takes the trio around the world, across the dance floor, trapped in a secluded prison, into the jungle and, worst of all for them, constantly into each other’s company.”

Who is in the Red Notice cast?

With Johnson (Jumanji, The Tooth fairy)  at the helm, the thriller is expected to be another epic success for the streaming platform.

Coupled with two other Hollywood royalties, Ryan Reynolds and Gal Gadot, Red Notice should come with a warning of its own, ‘Too Good to Miss’.

Reynolds (Deadpool, Free Guy) stars as Bishop, an elusive art thief who is roped into finding The Bishop (Gadot - best known for Wonder Woman and Fast and Furious).

Reynolds said of being cast in the movie: ““The idea that we’re going to go find treasure, I mean that in and of itself was also wish fulfillment.

“Everybody loves a treasure hunt, me more than anyone. I love blowing dust and cobwebs off of ancient artifacts that are going to help us solve this mystery.”

Israeli actress Gadot has worked with both Reynolds and Johnson before, in The Criminal and Fast and Furious respectively.

She said of returning to work as a trio: ““Ryan is the funniest to be around. We just jive and laugh. We’re very different and at the same time we have a lot in common and all of us are very family oriented.

“We like to be silly and laugh at ourselves. Both of them are very grounded. Their fame and their success never got into their head in a bad way. And I just love both of them. Honestly, it was really fun.”

The all star cast is joined by Ritu Arya (Daphne, The Good Karma Hospital) and Chris Diamantopolous, best known for his role as Russ Hanneman HBO series Silicon Valley.

When is Red Notice released on Netflix UK?

Red Notice is available on Netflix UK from 12 November 2021 for all subscribers.

The movie also released in selected cinemas across the UK on 5 November.
