While the population of Gresford and Marford Village stands at approximately 7500 people, the small Welsh town could grow by six more as Ryan Reynolds has bought a four-bedroom property.

The Hollywood actor reportedly purchased a £1.5 million home in Marford, just five miles away from Wrexham FC Racecourse Grounds, after he and Always Sunny in Philadelphia’s Rob McElhenney were given Freedom of the City.

The two A-List stars snapped up the once-ailing football club in November 2020 and have since pumped in around £10 million to the team in its bid to be promoted into the Football League.

For Ryan, whose net worth stands at £281 million, buying the club and the neighbouring property is just a drop in the ocean.

Ryan currently owns a £4.3 million home in New York where he lives with his wife Blake Lively and their four children; and while his permanent home will be in the Big Apple, Ryan’s property purchase in Wales could see the star this side of the pond more often.

A source told The Sun: “Ryan is moving to Marford and it’s all the locals can talk about. His house is on the poshest road…It might not be the Big Apple but the red carpet will be rolled out when Ryan comes to town.”

In honour of Marford welcoming a new neighbour, PeopleWorld takes a look at the neighbourhood Ryan and Blake could be moving into:

The 46-year-old Deadpool star has become incredibly popular in Wales over the past three years as a result of his commitment to the local club and his ambition to embrace Welsh culture.

If Ryan does in fact move to Marford, a sleepy town on the Welsh-English border, he will be able to explore the 3km village whose top tourist attraction is a nature reserve in a former quarry called North Wales Wildlife Trust.

As the source stated, Ryan allegedly bought a property on the ‘poshest road’ and while no photos have been revealed of the house in question, Marford is known for its quaint looking Gothic revival cottages that were once built as part of the Trevalyn Hall estates.

Several of the cottages have been listed by the Cadw, the historic environment service of the Welsh government, and are surrounded by acres of farmland.

Named after the Trevalyn Hall family, the Trevor Arms is one of two pubs in the area, with the other being The Red Lion.

If Ryan or Blake wanted to pop to the shop there is also only one shop in Marford, namely a Co-Op which opened in 2016 next to The Red Lion.

While one house has been taken off the market by the Hollywood couple, Rightmove shows that there are still several properties up for sale in the area ranging from £210,000 to £999,000.
