Words we always associate together include Yin and Yang, Ant and Dec or even swinging 60s, but rarely do we think of the word ‘humble' when it comes to Hollywood.

However, ‘Deadpool’ actor and Wrexham FC co-owner Ryan Reynolds has exemplified that even the top A-Listers can be ‘humble’ and star-struck despite their overwhelming popularity.

Ryan attended Wrexham’s FA Cup match against Sheffield United on Sunday [29 January] with his daughter James, and took part in a pre-match interview with legends of the ‘beautiful game’ Alan Shearer, Mark Hughes and Gary Lineker.

The silver screen star surprised fans with his knowledge about the former players when he announced ‘I am standing among legends here’, as he talked about plans for Wrexham FC, following his £2 million purchase of the non-league side in 2020 with fellow actor Rob McElhenney.

Ryan continued: “It has been the greatest experience of my entire life, notwithstanding my family. It’s going to be a multi-decade project, and everything it entails is just magic. We wanted to get involved - we looked at a bunch of different clubs but Wrexham just spoke to us, the club was already perfect, it just needed a bit of awareness.”

While it has been reported that Rob and Ryan’s purchase of the Welsh football team was mainly sparked by the former Always Sunny in Philadelphia creator, the match-up between the American actors and the football team seemed almost inevitable as Wrexham has too been labelled a ‘humble’ side.

Wrexham has had humble beginnings as the third-oldest professional football club in the world with the small town living in relative obscurity despite knocking Arsenal FC out of the FA Cup in the early 90s.

As Ryan and Rob took over the Welsh club three years ago, and threw the sporting side into the limelight not only as celebrity owners but also with their release of Welcome to Wrexham documentary, there were concerns about their intentions, however the combination of humble actors and humble team has kept everyone in good favour.

Ryan Reynolds is not the only Hollywood A-Lister who has shown their humble side when coming face to face with other greats of the industry. PeopleWorld takes a look at other stars who have been star-struck.

Sophie Turner and Kendall Jenner

The Game of Thrones alum was walking the red carpet at the Met Gala in 2022 and she bumped into Kendall Jenner.

Sophie told Jimmy Fallon: “[Kendall] was at the Met Gala and I love the Kardashians. I think she’s so gorgeous in real life, and I was struck by her beauty.”

She continued to say that Kendall invited her to an after-party to which she shockingly declined, despite her awe of the supermodel.

Brad Pitt and Luke Perry

Before Luke Perry’s heart-breaking death at the age of 52 in 2019, Brad Pitt was bowled over to bump into the 90210 star on the set of Once Upon A Time…In Hollywood.

Brad recalled telling his co-star Leonardo DiCaprio, ‘that’s Luke f***ing Perry’ after being inspired by the actor from a young age.

He said: “We were like kids in the candy shop…he was that icon of coolness for us as teenagers. It was this strange burst of excitement that I had, to be able to act with him.”

Emma Stone and Leonardo DiCaprio

While Leonardo DiCaprio was star-struck with Brad Pitt over Luke Perry, many stars have been humbled when meeting the Titanic star, one of them being Emma Stone.

Emma had watched Titanic ‘seven and a half times in theatres’ and had a picture of the Hollywood star on her wall, before collecting her Academy Award from him in 2017.

Even four years later on a radio show in 2021, Emma Stone still recounted the moment of awe when speaking to him, claiming it as the most ‘surreal’ moment of her life.

Jennifer Lawrence and Jack Nicholson

Lastly, Jennifer Lawrence knows how to keep herself down to earth after famously tripping up the stairs at the Oscars and also on the ceremony’s red carpet.

However, one key moment that proves how humble the star is involved her being interrupted mid-interview by none other than Jack Nicholson.

As Jennifer tried to keep her composure, Jack complimented her by saying, "You did such a beautiful job [in Silver Linings Playbook], I didn't mean to cross into your interview but I had to congratulate you."
