Marvel has not fallen short of blockbuster movies over the past year, with Venom 2: Let There Be Carnage and Black Widow among some of the cinematic releases.

This December, MCU fans can expect another epic return of their favourite masked hero, as Spider-Man: No Way Home will be released.

The official poster was released on November 8, and we can expect the return of some other infamous characters in the latest movie of the series.

So, when is the movie out and who else is in the cast? This is what you need to know.

What is the Spider-Man: No Way Home about?

The trailer has now been released by Marvel, showing Spider-Man in a new light as he no longer masks his superhero life from his private life.

Tom Holland (aka. Spider-Man) even teased it as the "most ambitious standalone superhero movie ever made", and we are beginning to see why.

Rumour has it that while he will continue his reign as Spidey, there could be a number of other MCU heroes swinging into the latest Spider-Man movie.

Not a lot has been teased about the storyline for No Way Home, other than Peter Parker asking Doctor Strange to make the world forget he is Spider-Man.

While this is the storyline in the comics, the narrative will be changed for the movie.

It is expected that the request will ultimately unleash the multiverse. It may be for this reason that fans have speculated the return of former Spider-men, Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield.

When is the official release of Spider Man: No Way Home?

All other MCU films set for release this year have been delayed, but Marvel has confirmed Spider-Man: No Way Home will stick to its original date and be released ahead of Christmas.

Spider-Man: No Way Home is slated for release in UK cinemas on 17 December. It is unclear whether it could be released on streaming platforms as well.

It is the third in the Tom Holland sequel of Spider-Man movies, which succeeds Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017) and Spider-Man: Far from Home (2019).

Who is in the cast?

Spider-Man: No Way Home will return Holland’s Peter Parker, having made his debut in Civil War (2017) and later in both Spider-Man movies.

Sony and Marvel have been tight lipped about the return of some former Spider-Man cast members, while rumours have been rife about the return of Macguire, Garfield and their respective partners, Kirsten Dunst’s Mary Jane Watson and Emma Stone’s Gwen Stacy.

However, Garfield did deny he had received any call back in May, following filming wrapping up in early March 2021.

"I wish I could just be able to speak to everyone and say, like, ‘I recommend that you chill.’ I can’t speak for anything else apart from myself, they might be doing something. But I ain’t got a call," he told reporters.

Despite this, fans believe Doctor Ock’s “Hello Peter” in the ending scene of the trailer is not directed at Holland.

Jake Gyllenhaal could also reprise his role as Mysterio, despite appearing to be fatally wounded in Far From Home.

JK Simmons is also expected to return as J Jonah Jameson, playing a bigger role in this movie than in any previous Spider-Man film.
