Wordle has been keeping the world entertained for weeks now, giving fans a daily 5-letter word-based head-scratcher to exercise their grey matter.

But what if one Wordle’s just not enough for you?

Sure, you could use this simple trick that allows users to play the daily puzzle game twice in one day, or check out one of the myriad tributes and spoofs that have cropped up in the original game’s wake.

But those still only offer one puzzle at a time.

Enter Quordle.

What is Quordle?

Wordle is an online brain teaser which lies somewhere between a crossword and a sudoku puzzle.

Quordle is exactly like Wordle, only this time, you’re attempting to solve FOUR of the tricky puzzles at once.

It sounds daunting, and loading up the game for the first time, just the sight of four Wordle boards was enough to put us off even attempting the feat.

But for the more word-brave out there, it’s likely an enticing challenge.

Anyone who knows the game Mastermind, which employs the use of coloured pegs, will instantly be familiar with the premise of Wordle, and therefore, Quordle.

The objective of the game is to guess a secret 5-letter word in six tries, using a series of hints to figure it out.

  • If any of your letters are highlighted as green, that means that you’ve got the right letter in the right place.
  • If any of the letters are highlighted as yellow, that means that those letters are in the word, but they’re currently in the wrong place.
  • Finally, if any of your letters are highlighted as grey, it means that those letters aren’t included anywhere in the secret word.

Quordle works in exactly the same way, but with four times the fun.

It is slightly more lenient with the amount of guesses it gives players - you get nine in total with Quordle. There is also a ‘practice’ mode where you can get more of a feeling of what to expect and how the game works.

But you’ll need to keep in mind your near misses and any letters that aren’t included in a word.

Just because a letter might not be in one of the Wordles, that doesn’t mean it’s not in another. This is where things get confusing.

When you then factor in double letters and American spellings of English words, this one’s not for the faint-hearted!
