British actress Maggie Fox, known for her work on Coronation Street and Shameless, has died after an accident.
The actress’s comedy partner Sue Ryding broke the news to the public as she cancelled their nationwide tour, which was due to take place later this year.

Who was Maggie Fox?
Maggie Fox was a British actress, best known for her work in TV soap Coronation Street and comedy drama Shameless.
She also ran theatre company, LipService, alongside Sue Ryding.
LipService has been making comedy shows with a mainly female perspective since 1985.

Hide AdTogether Ryding and Fox wrote 22 comedies and toured all over the world. They were scheduled to go on a nationwide tour this year.
Fox began her acting career in 1997, playing the woman with a dog in one episode of Reckless.
She also appeared in Manchester-based soap, Coronation Street, as four different characters between 1990 and 2010.
She is most famed for her 2001 role of Ruth Audsley, but was more recently back in the soap as Judge Travers, in 2010.

Hide AdIn the 2002 ITV period drama,The Forsyte Saga, Fox was a housekeeper named Bilson.
She was also the voice of the librarian in multiple episodes of children’s cartoon show, Bob the Builder, between 2003 and 2005.
In 2006, she took on the role of a registrar in Shameless, at Frank and Sheila’s wedding.
In more recent years, Fox played the Matron in South Riding, and Mrs Parke in The Making of a Lady.

Maggie Fox passed away in a “sudden accident”, on Monday 21 March.
Details of the accident have not been revealed, but she was surrounded by her family.

Fox’s comedy partner Ryding announced the news to the public, via Facebook, on Tuesday 22 March.
