So what do we know about her new music - and how did she announce it?

What did Adele announce?

Taking to Twitter, Adele released a clip teasing her comeback single.

In the black and white clip, the ‘Someone Like You’ singer is seen inserting a cassette into a car stereo and driving down a country lane while pieces of paper fly out of the windows of her car.

The snippet of the song is Adele’s usual type of piano ballad, but it doesn’t reveal any lyrics.

What did she say on social media?

The announcement comes amid speculation that new music is on the way from Adele, after she updated her social media accounts and website.

After fans spotted the change in Adele’s online presence, the hashtag #Adele30 began trending.

The number 30 appeared on billboards and was projected onto famous landmarks around the world – including in Dubai, Ireland, France, Italy, and the US.

The pop superstar’s Twitter and Instagram pages showed a blue and turquoise pattern with her biography containing a link to her website, which urged fans to sign up for more information.

However, the change was slightly ill-timed, with both Facebook and Instagram suffering worldwide outages shortly after the updates to Adele’s profile.

The online giants went offline for some users on Monday 4 October, causing chaos for those who rely on the platforms.

Twitter remained one of the only major social media platforms unaffected and users shared their reactions on the site, and Adele replied to a tweet from Twitter’s official account.

“hello literally everyone,” Twitter said in a joke about an influx of users. Adele replied: “Hiya babes!”

Adele - Easy on Me lyrics

Verse

There ain't no gold in this river

That I've been washin' my hands in forever

I know there is hope in these waters

But I can't bring myself to swim

When I am drowning in this silence

Baby, let me in

Chorus

Go easy on me, baby

I was still a child

Didn't get the chance to

Feel the world around me

I had no time to choose what I chose to do

So go easy on me

Verse

There ain't no room for things to change

When we are both so deeply stuck in our ways

You can't deny how hard I have tried

I changed who I was to put you both first

But now I give up

Chorus

Go easy on mе, baby

I was still a child

Didn't get the chance to

Feel thе world around me

Had no time to choose what I chose to do

So go easy on me

Bridge

I had good intentions

And the highest hopes

But I know right now

It probably doesn't even show

Chorus

Go easy on me, baby

I was still a child

I didn't get the chance to

Feel the world around me

I had no time to choose what I chose to do

So go easy on me

Is Adele releasing a new album too?

Adele has not released an album since 2015’s 25, but she has confirmed she is working on a new record.

Adele’s fourth album was reportedly due to be released last year but was delayed by the pandemic. It is now scheduled for release on 19 November 2021.

All three of her studio albums so far have been named after the milestone ages she hit during the creative process.

While now 33, Adele, who headlined Glastonbury festival in 2016, announced her split from charity boss Simon Konecki in April 2019 - at the age of 30.

Their divorce was finalised in March 2021, with the former couple sharing custody of their eight-year-old son Angelo.

She has also made headlines for her weight loss, sharing pictures on social media of her slimmer figure while living in the US.

Adele is reportedly now dating American sports agent Rich Paul, founder of management company Klutch Sports Group, which represents high-profile basketball stars including LeBron James, Anthony Davis and John Wall.

In September, the chart-topping singer shared a photo on Instagram showing them posing together in a photobooth and captioned the image with a love heart emoji.
