Adele performed her record breaking hit Easy On Me, as well as other songs from her latest album 30

It’s been a busy time for Adele - between breaking records with her latest single Easy On Me, releasing her fourth studio album, doing interviews in the UK and in the US, she had also managed to fit in a special performance at the London Palladium with An Audience With Adele.

This is everything you need to know about the performance.

What is An Audience With Adele?

An Audience With Adele was a one off concert by Adele which took place in the London Palladium, where she sang her latest record breaking single Easy On Me, as well as other songs featured on her new album 30.

She also performed renditions of Hello, Someone Like You, Rolling In The Deep and more.

Throughout the performance, she also answered questions about her life, which led to a teary reunion with her old England teacher Ms McDonald, from Chestnut Grove School in Balham, who taught her before she moved to the prestigious Brit School as a teenager.

Answering the question of who she had been inspired by in life, Adele said: “[Ms McDonald] got me really into literature, I’ve always been obsessed with English and obviously now I write lyrics.

“But she also did street dance, I was too scared to go in, but like in the canteen they used to do these dances and stuff like that.

“She was so bloody cool, so engaging, and she really made us care, and we knew that she cared about us and stuff like that.

“She used to have all these gold bracelets and gold rings.

“She was bloody cool and so relatable and likeable, that I really looked forward to my English lessons.”

She was then surprised as her teacher got on stage, where the pair embraced, prompting the tearful singer to smudge her make-up.

Who was in the audience?

The concert at the London Palladium marked the first time that Adele has performed in the UK for four years.

Unfortunately for fans of the singer, tickets were not made available to the public.

Ahead of the performance, ITV stated the audience will consist of specially invited “friends, family, fans, [Adele’s] own personal heroes and heroines, fellow musicians, artists, actors, sportsmen, sportswomen and more”.

It proved to be a star studded affair with the likes of Ted Lasso star Hannah Waddingham, Dame Emma Thompson, Stormzy, Idris Elba, Jodie Comer and more in attendance.

After smudging her make-up following her reunion with her teacher, Adele jokingly invited comedian Alan Carr onto the stage to cover for her whilst she had her make-up fixed.

As Carr approached the stage, Adele told the band to start playing her song Make You Feel My Love and said that Carr would sing it.

In true Alan Carr fashion, he burst out the lyrics hilariously out of tune, but it wasn’t long before he got the rest of the audience singing along with him.

Another highlight from the evening was definitely seeing Dame Emma Thompson dancing without a care in the audience.

ITV posted a video to Twitter of the actress dancing in between comedian Michael McIntyre and her husband and fellow actor Greg Wise, who was a contestant on this year’s series of Strictly Come Dancing.

The broadcaster wrote: “Dame Emma Thompson is living her best life and I am here for it! @Adele”
