Wordle games are ten a penny at this point; the game has inspired variations including Taylordle (a Taylor Swift version) and Queerdle (an LGBTQ+ version).
But could we now be looking at our first spin-off, of a spin-off?
We recently reported on Heardle, a musical version of the world famous word game that essentially boils down a game of beat the intro to its simplistic essentials.
Now, a new version of Heardle is among us, one tailor made for fans of K-pop.
Here is everything you need to know about BTS Heardle.
What is Heardle?
Heardle involves people listening to the intro of a song and trying to name it - a fun twist on the Wordle format.
The music-based guessing game invites players to guess the track from a pool of the most streamed songs in the last 10 years, using only brief snippets from the intro.
You have six guesses (just like Wordle) to try and nail what the song is from the audio clues.
In the first attempt, you are played one second of the song, in the next attempt, you hear two seconds, then four seconds, then seven seconds, then 11 seconds, and finally, 16 seconds to decipher what it is.
There’s one game per day and the website stores your scores, and like Wordle, you can share your results on social media to gloat to your friends.
Heardle has a similar sharing feature that lets you copy a series of emoji to your clipboard so you can tell people how quickly you guessed the song.
How does BTS Heardle work?
Essentially, BTS Heardle works in much the same way, only all of the answers are taken from the repertoire of world-beating K-pop superstars, BTS.
However, there are a few notable differences from the original Heardle game.
Firstly, players get seven attempts to guess the BTS song of the day.
In the first attempt, players don’t even get to hear a snippet of the song, and instead are presented with the lyrics of the track in question displayed in both English and Korean text.
If the user can guess the song from its words, they need not hear it, but after the first attempt, players can listen to snippets of the song.
How do I play it?
To play the game, simply head to bts-heardle.app; the game can be accessed with both mobile devices and PC.
It was created by ARMY, the worldwide BTS fan group that supports the group with an unwavering devotion unlike any other.
