BTS member Jungkook has been on a whirlwind tour of Europe over the past few days, having graced Radio 1’s Live Lounge already this week and is set for a primetime appearance on BBC One’s longrunning early evening show, “The One Show.” As more and more music listeners start to gravitate towards his work, it’s led to the conversation of if ‘Seven,’ the single he is promoting, could top the UK Top 40 singles chart this week?

The midweek chart indicated that he was only a few 100,000 sales away from this week’s biggest chart earner, “Sprinter” by Dave and featuring Central Cee. But looking at the figures this morning provided by Kworb, it looks like there still might be some stiff competition in the singles chart - especially with the release of Britney Spears' long awaited return with “Mind Your Business” with collaborator Will.I.Am.

As of 10:30am, the daily Spotify data for the UK shows that ‘Seven,’ featuring rapper Latto, is currently sat in 13th position with a total of 1,243,072 streams this week. In contrast, “Sprinter” currently has a weekly total of 4,876,628; however, take into account that “Spinter” has been out for 49 as opposed to the six “Seven” has been out for.

The Spotify daily list also showed that the current leader has had a drop of 7,292 streams in the last seven days, while Jungkook’s overall total represents not even an entire week of streams in the UK through the platform - so perhaps those appearances on Radio 1 and this evening’s performance on “The One Show” might help boost those streaming numbers a little more.

Interestingly, looking at the iTunes chart in the UK regarding streaming and sales figures, it reads a little more favourable for Jungkook and Latto; it currently sits in third as of Kworb’s update this morning regarding Apple’s music platform. However it was in first place for most of the week, only knocked off the top spot by, no surprise, the brand new Britney Spears and Will.I.Am collaboration.

Alarmingly, what also bumped “Seven” to third place on iTunes was the sudden surge in streams that Jason Aldean had regarding his controversial single, “Try That In A Small Town,” which jumped five places overnight to second position.

What is the highest charting K-Pop single in UK Top 40 chart history?

That honour belongs to Jungkook’s BTS bandmate Jimin, who became the first and only K-Pop soloist to have a single enter the UK Top 10 in March 2023 with “Like Crazy” which entered the chart at number #8 earlier this year. He became the second highest charting Korean musician in UK singles chart history, and the first K-Soloist to have two separate singles enter the UK Top 30 at the same time.

So for Jungkook to better that effort, he needs to place in seventh position or higher, which looking at the charts, might actually be a feat he could accomplish
