The second weekend of 2022’s Coachella festival is about to kick off in the US.

The world famous event, which takes place in the Southern Californian desert, has experienced multiple delays and cancellations due to the Covid pandemic.

However, Coachella returned once again over two weekends this year.

Here is everything you need to know about it.

When is Coachella 2022?

The Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival took place in the Indio desert near Palm Springs and attracted about 250,000 attendees in 2019.

In has returned in 2022 at the same festival site, and takes place over two weekends: 15 - 17 and 22 - 24 April.

The 2020 event was scheduled for April of that year before being pushed to October because of the global pandemic. It was then moved to April 2021 before again being cancelled due to the health crisis.

The cancelled Coachella had been set to be headlined by Travis Scott, Frank Ocean and political rap-metal band Rage Against The Machine.

The Stagecoach music festival, a country music event scheduled for April on the same site and organised by the same company as Coachella, is also making its return.

It is scheduled to take place over 29 April - 1 May.

Who is playing?

‘Watermelon Sugar’ singer Harry Styles is set to headline both Fridays, with Billie Eilish on the Saturdays, and The Weeknd and Swedish House Mafia headlining the Sundays after original headliner Kanye West pulled out.

Also included in the Friday line up are Lil Baby, Phoebe Bridgers, slowthai, and Bristol-based punk rockers, IDLES.

Saturday’s line up features Flume, 21 Savage and ‘WAP’ singer Megan Thee Stallion, as well as award winning London musician Arlo Parks.

Doja Cat, Jamie XX, Run The Jewels, and Fatboy Slim join West in Sunday’s line up; electronic supergroup Swedish House Mafia were also announced to be returning to the desert.

How can I get tickets?

There is a waitlist and fan-to-fan ticket exchange system, where you may be lucky in grabbing unwanted tickets for the event’s weekends.

General tickets cost between $449 and $549 (£327 and £400) before booking fees, depending on at which tier you manage to secure them.

VIP passes will set you back between $929 and $1,119 (£677 and £815) before booking fees.
