Will revellers heading to Worthy Farm be worth reinvesting in a pair of wellington boots as of the gates opening at Glastonbury Festival 2023 tomorrow, or as Marina Licht has written earlier, will there be plenty of room to pack other items away from those bulky, heavy gumboots this weekend?

Many of us of a certain age remember images printed across newspapers and music magazines back in 1997, which is on record as the wettest Glastonbury Festival in its history, leading to the affair becoming also the muddiest. Heavy rain turned the site into a quagmire, making it incredibly challenging for festival-goers to navigate the grounds.

The downpour created ankle-deep mud throughout the site, leading to slippery conditions and difficulty moving around the stages and camping areas. The muddy conditions became a defining characteristic of that particular Glastonbury Festival and have since become a legendary part of its history.

It begs the question; is it truly a camping experience if you’re not forced to put a tent up in wet conditions?

Thankfully for those heading to Pilton, Somerset this week, the Met Office currently has some good news for you all.

The bad news though is if you’ve a pretty bad pollen allergy, we have some pretty important advice to prevent your eyes and noses streaming with tears and snot if you’re planning to be in South West England for the annual festival, headlined by Arctic Monkeys (for now), Guns ‘n’ Roses, Lizzo and Sir Elton John - who’s still being awfully coy regarding his set list and guests…

What is the weather forecast for Glastonbury Festival 2023 currently?

Thankfully (perhaps not for Hunter however), it looks like revellers heading to the festival this week will be graced with good weather. Friday and Saturday look to be the two days in question the most at risk with “intervals” forecasted, but other than that it looks to be a pleasant, warm couple of days on Worthy Farm.

  • Wednesday: Sunny, changing to cloudy by late morning (22c/13c)
  • Thursday: Sunny (22c/14c)
  • Friday: Cloudly, changing to clear by the evening (24c/14c)
  • Saturday: Sunny intervals (25c/15c)
  • Sunday: Sunny (24c/14c)
  • Monday: Sunny, changing to cloudy by mid-morning (21c/14c)

What is the pollen count going to be for Glastonbury Festival 2023?

If you’ve been suffering from very bad hayfever over the last few weeks and worried that perhaps some antihistamines might need to be packed away, the Met Office’s pollen county for South West England is set to “Very High” from Wednesday, when gates open, all the way through to Monday.

PeopleWorld’s advice is to save the tears for Sir Elton John’s performance instead and pack some hayfever tablets to avoid that congested head during the festival.
