“He was a big boy at 8lbs 7oz...and sideways (transverse), but we had an amazing, successful C-section, and I finally got my skin to skin time! Thank you to all of the incredible doctors and nurses who took such great care of us.”

Meghan married the Spy Kids actor in 2018 and the couple have shared their journey and struggles to become parents. They welcomed firstborn son Riley three years after getting married.

We have to admit the name Barry was unexpected. Of course, every parent has the right to choose whatever name they want and it doesn’t matter what anyone else thinks. Don’t get me wrong Barry Bruce sounds like a superhero or even a Spy Kid, maybe they are planning his future and he will follow in his father's footsteps.

However, it did get us scratching our heads and wondering how popular the name is in 2023. The only people with the name Barry that springs to mind are Barry White and Barry Manilow both of who were born in the 1940s.

Usually, names that aren't as popular as they used to be usually come from being named after a sibling, parent, grandparent or even great-grandparent.

Meghan’s parents are named Kelli and Gary Trainor whilst Daryl's mother is Sandy and her father Roland. So there could be an ancestor named Barry in their family and that is where the idea for the new-born's name came from.

The name Barry was popular from the 1930s through to the 1980s and has been on the decline ever since hitting its lowest point in 2017. But since 2021 the name has been on the up and its popularity has risen even more in the past year with over 100 babies being given the name according to research by UK Baby Names.

Even more shocking is that according to the website, the hottest names in the UK right now are Gary, James, David, John and Ian.

Wherever the name came from, all that matters is that mother and baby are doing well and he will be loved forever. Congratulations to Meghan, Daryl and big brother Riley.
