80s singer Paula Abdul has canceled a series of shows after revealing to fans that she will undergo an urgent medical procedure.

The 62-year-old former American Idol and The X Factor US judge told fans that after injuring herself badly, she will need to undergo a procedure. As a result a series of dates on the Straight Up! To Canada tour have been cancelled.

Paula wrote on Instagram: “It’s with an incredibly heavy heart that I need to share with you an update regarding some injuries I’ve recently sustained. In an effort to keep going, I’ve received targeted injections that will allow me temporary relief, but the demands of an entire tour is a different story.”

The ‘Straight Up’ singer said that after “multiple consultations with my doctors and exploring all available options”, she will need to undergo a “minor procedure followed by a 6-8 week recovery time”. The nature of her injuries have not been revealed.

She added: “I want to extend my deepest apologies to all my amazing fans in Canada and the US, you mean the world to me and this truly breaks my heart. I’ve been looking forward to the energy, love, and connection we always share when we’re together. I promise I’ll be back, stronger and better, dancing my heart out and performing for all of you very soon, to give you the show you deserve.”

Fans flooded her post with messages of support. One said: “We love you Paula! Take care of yourself. Paula peeps are in it for the long haul! Health first.” Another added: “Sending you all the good vibes! Wishing you a speedy recovery.”

Paula was set to play 21-dates on the Straight Up! To Canada tour, which had been scheduled to begin in Victoria, British Colombia on September 25. Her cancellation comes only two weeks after she finished performing as part of New Kids On the Block’s The Magic Summer 2024 tour throughout North America.
