Elton John’s husband David Furnish has shone a light on several topics during his conversation with Sky News’ Beth Rigby. As well as revealing that the couple are still in touch with Prince Harry who was ‘very pleased’ with his court case against Mirror News Group, viewers were given a further glimpse into Elton’s headlining Glastonbury gig and David’s reaction to coverage surrounding the Phillip Schofield scandal.

However, one major talking point that has come out of David’s interview, which will air at 9pm tonight on Sky News, was Piers Morgan’s response to the Canadian filmmaker’s thoughts on J.K Rowling.

Furnish told Beth Rigby: “I have tremendous admiration for what J.K. has done with Harry Potter…and brought families together in a way that no one has done for a very, very long time.

“I don't like to see any community singled out, or stigmatised, and I think when you have a platform like she has, if I was in her shoes, I would direct it towards doing what I do best, which is bringing people together my through my work and through my art, and my culture.”

In response, Piers Morgan took to Twitter to share his thoughts: “What a gutless response, basically telling @jk_rowling to shut up and stop defending women’s rights. As for Saint Elton always looking to spread love and inclusion, he is legendarily one of the b****iest people in showbiz…”

As some agreed with Piers in the comments section, it raised the question as to how close Piers Morgan and Elton John were to each other.

It may come as a surprise to some Twitter users that Piers would call out Elton as one of the ‘b****iest people in showbiz’ after the Uncensored host interviewed the ‘I’m Still Standing’ singer on his ‘Life Stories’ programme in 2019.

On Elton’s episode, the musician revealed how drugs and alcohol almost killed him before holding a candle to the late Princess Diana.

On the other hand, Piers Morgan’s reaction to David Furnish’s interview is not uncommon as the controversial journalist previously slammed Elton last year when the singer decided to quit Twitter following Elon Musk’s takeover.

Elton chose to leave the platform based upon their change in policy ‘which will allow misinformation to flourish unchecked’ alongside the likes of Stephen Fry, but was promptly dismissed by Piers who said, ‘I bet Elton doesn’t even know how to tweet.’

Despite audiences siding with Piers on his most recent tweet regarding Elton’s ‘b****iness’, they defended the ‘Your Song’ hitmaker last year by correcting Piers when saying, ‘It’s Sir Elton to you’.
