Teenage Cancer Trust gigs 2022: Royal Albert Hall dates, concert ticket prices and lineup with Liam Gallagher

It’s been announced that The Who and Ed Sheeran are amongst the artists included in the lineup for the Teenage Cancer Trust week long concert series, marking the return of the event after it was forced to close its doors due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

What is the Teenage Cancer Trust charity concert?

The Teenage Cancer Trust concert series is a series of music and comedy concerts, held in a bid to raise money for the charity.

The concerts have run every year for two decades, but unfortunately due to the pandemic, they had to temporarily close their doors in 2020 and 2021.

2020 would have marked the 20th year of the Teenage Cancer Trust at the Royal Albert Hall.

The Teenage Cancer Trust website says that “after an enforced two-year break due to the pandemic, we are thrilled to bring this iconic event back in 2022”.

According to the charity, the two years of lost shows meant that the Teenage Cancer Trust “missed out on around £2 million in vital funds to support young people when they needed help the most”.

The Who frontman Roger Daltrey helped launch the concert series to raise money for Teenage Cancer Trust in 2000 and is also a patron of the charity.

The 77-year-old, who has been a driving force behind the shows at the Royal Albert Hall every year since, said: “Live music has been hit hard by the pandemic and it has been particularly frustrating for me that we haven’t been able to get artists on stage to raise money for this vitally important cause.

“But we haven’t given up. My wonderful team and I have pulled out all the stops to make this 20th series of shows for Teenage Cancer Trust the best ever. I am so grateful for the loyalty and continued support given to us by the music and comedy industries.

“The Who will be back on stage this year at the hall alongside some wonderful talent. After the last two unbelievably difficult years, young people with cancer deserve everything we can do for them.”

Katie Collins, chief executive of the Teenage Cancer Trust, said: “We are so grateful to Roger and all the acts coming together to help us ensure that young people don’t have to face cancer alone. The past two years have been so tough for young people with cancer and their families.

“As well as being amazing gigs, these vital fundraising shows going ahead will make the world of difference.

“Without the money raised at events like this – and people like Roger giving up their time to help others – our work would not happen and young people with cancer would go through treatment without the vital specialist care and support we provide.”

Can I buy tickets?

Tickets will be made available to buy at 9am on Friday 25 February.

You can purchase tickets through one of the Teenage Cancer Trusts official third party ticketing partners, which are Ticketmaster, Gigs and Tours and the Royal Albert Hall itself.

Prices for the tickets have not yet been made available.

There will be no priority booking for the gigs, however members of the Royal Albert Hall “friends and patrons” membership will get exclusive access to an additional allocation of tickets not available to the general public.

The membership costs £45 per year and has added perks such as access to exclusive pre-sale tickets, free use of the cloakroom and a 10% discount in the Royal Albert Hall retail shop at Door 12 or online. You can sign up on the Royal Albert Hall website. 

If you manage to bag yourself some tickets but find yourself unable to attend the concert any more, you can resell it through the charity’s resale partner Twickets.

Viagogo is not an official ticket partner, and tickets purchased “from Viagogo or any other seller not listed above will be cancelled and will not be valid for the shows”.

You can also win a pair of free tickets to the gig of your choice at the Royal Albert Hall by entering the prize draw on the Teenage Cancer Trusts website.

To be in with a chance of winning, simply fill out the online form with your details including your name, date of birth and email address, and hit submit.

The prize draw is only open to UK residents aged 18 or older. Entry into the draw opened on Monday 21 February and will close at 3pm sharp on Thursday 24 February. Entries made after this time will not be counted.

There is also a maximum of one entry per individual, and a total of seven winners will be chosen at random.

Where is the venue?

The Royal Albert Hall will act as the venue for all the concerts and gigs for the Teenage Cancer Trust.

There are a number of different ways you can access the Royal Albert Hall.

If you’re using public transport, the Royal Albert Hall suggests checking the Transport for London website for the best route. You should note that the Piccadilly line will not stop at South Kensington until Spring 2022.

If you’re arriving by car, you can use the car park at the nearby Imperial College, which is roughly a five minute walk away from the venue. Spaces must be booked in advance and cost £10.75.

You can book a parking space on the Royal Albert Hall website. 

If you plan on using a taxi to get to the venue, the most convenient place to be dropped off is outside the Albert Mansions on Kensington Gore.
