Tyga buys Avril Lavigne an $80,000 necklace and we look at her other romantic gifts over the years

Time is the most precious gift we can give and receive, though for some celebrity romances this just doesn't cut it.

If gifting is the food of love then Avril Lavigne has certainly encouraged her men to keep the present feast coming.

Her latest comes in the form of an $80,000 necklace from the hip-hop artist Tyga. The pair have been seen together the last month, since Avril's split from her fiancé, the singer Mod Sun, in February 2023.

Avril has spoken of having her heart broken over the years, although her latest dalliance with Tyga comes hot on the heels of her rumoured ditching of Mod, who was seemingly unaware of the split when rumours began to circulate about a possible Avril and Tyga romance.

Mod may be broken-hearted over his whirlwind romance being over with Avril - they became engaged last spring, just one year after starting to date - but he certainly gave thoughtful presents to Avril when they were together.

Upon proposing to Avril in Paris in March 2022, the pair posted an image of the beautiful heart-shaped ring Mod had gifted to his love to clinch the deal.

Mod had proposed with a custom-made diamond from a Beverley Hills-based jeweller called XIV Karots. It had the words 'Hi Icon' engraved on one side as those were the first words Mod had said to Avril when they first met. On the inside of the ring it said: 'Mod + Avril'.

Unfortunately, her romance to Mod did not last, for reasons which remain unclear. Whether her engagement ring will be returned is one of those issues that divides opinion. Some believe it is a gift and as such should remain with the recipient. Others think that it's a promise of a future together and if this promise is broken, for whatever reason, then it should be returned.

Avril has enjoyed a diamond ring as a present a few times before. Notably, in 2014, she received a 17-carot diamond ring from her second husband, Chad Kroeger. The pair were married from 2013 until 2015 and for their one-year wedding anniversary Chad gifted Avril with some bling.

An image was posted on Twitter by Avril of the ring as she gushed over the present, although she later took the post down.

Avril has been engaged three times, so presumably three engagement rings as gifts on each occasion.
