Move over Spotify Wrapped, let’s talk about Apple Replay from Apple Music. The yearly summary gives subscribers the chance to review their listening habits including top songs, artists, albums and genre.
This year’s addition from Apple Music also has new features including a stories highlight reel that shares your listening stats for the year, it will also tell you if you are in the top 100 listeners of an artist or music genre, similar to Spotify Wrapped.
Apple Music users can now share their Replay highlights to social media and unlike Spotify, Replay is tracked until December 31, so you will be able to see if your tastes change right up until the new year.
Here’s everything you need to know about Apple Replay and how to find out your listening stats for 2022.
What is Apple Music Replay?
Apple Music Replay gives Apple Music users a customised summary of their yearly listening habits including top songs, artists, albums and genres.
Each year your favourite songs are compiled into a playlist called Replay, so you have all your most listened to tracks in one place. The listening stats include any device where you’ve signed in and listened to Apple Music with your Apple ID. However, if you have turned your listening history off Apple Replay will not be available.
Is Apple Music Replay out yet?
Apple Music Replay landed on Tuesday 29 November, one day before Spotify Wrapped was released. However, with Apple Music you are able to track your listening stats all year round, so you don’t have to rely on a yearly summary.
How do I see my Apple Music Replay?
You can see your Apple Music Replay by simply logging into your Apple Music app and scrolling down to the “Just Landed” section or alternatively you can access it on a desktop via the Apple Music website. Once here simply add in your Apple ID and you can explore your listening stats and yearly playlist.
Apple Music Replay has now released a new stories highlight reel that offers a visual display of your listening habits including most listened to songs, your favourite artist and genre. It can also show you if you are in the 100 listeners similar to Spotify Wrapped.
Apple Music users can continue to check their Replay playlist until the 31 December to see how their music tastes change in the run up to the new year with your stats are calculated based on the full twelve months. Whereas Spotify Wrapped only includes stats up until the 31 October, this means that artists you listen to in November and December won’t be reflected in your yearly plays.
Can you compare previous years?
With Apple Music Replay you can see your listening stats throughout the year. If you want to see your Replay playlists from previous years this is available too. To do this all you need to do is sign into Apple Music and select “Listen Now”, scroll down to the right to “Replay: Your Top Songs by Year”, and click to see the playlist and relive your favourite tracks from years gone by.
If you haven’t listened to enough music this year or in previous years, Apple Music will issue a message that tells you “you haven’t listened to enough songs to generate a playlist - yet.”
