The BBC has decided to cancel Radio 2’s live music event, Radio 2 Live, following the shock death of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II on Thursday 8 September.

The event is just one of many events which have either been cancelled or postponed following the Queen’s passing.

The Last Night of the Proms was called off following the news of the death of our longest saving British monarch on Thursday 8 September.

The traditional finale of the Proms season was due to take place at the Royal Albert Hall on Saturday 10 September, but oganisers said shortly after Her Majesty’s death was announced that the event had been cancelled as a mark of respect.

Why has Radio 2 Live been cancelled?

The organisers issued a short statement the day after the Queen’s death announcing the cancellation of the annual event, saying they were doing so ‘as a mark of respect’.

The statement read: “Following the very sad news of the death of Her Majesty The Queen, as a mark of respect, BBC Radio 2 Live in Leeds will now not take place.”

Will Radio 2 Live be rearranged?

Radio 2 Live will not be arranged for 2022.

It is expected that the next Radio 2 Live event will take place in 2023.

How can you get a refund on your Radio 2 Live ticket?

The statement from the organisers said: “Ticket holders will be issued with refunds via the ticketing provider”.

It is understood that ticket holders do not need to do anything to obtain their refund, and they will be contacted directly by their ticket provider regarding getting their money back.

What is Radio 2 Live?

Radio 2 Live is an annual event which gives music fans an opportunity to see some of the biggest names in the music industry perform live.

In previous years, the event has been known as a festival in a day but it was due to take place over two days in 2022.

The event was also due to double in size this year, with over 20 artists performing across two stages.

Alongside the main stage, there was also going to be a Radio 2 DJ Tent for the first time where presenters will be playing classic tracks, from Motown in the 1960s to the present day..

When was Radio 2 Live due to take place?

The two-day event was due to take place on Saturday 17 September and Sunday 18 September 2022.

Who was going to perform at this year’s Radio 2 Live?

The main artists for each of the days of the festival had all been announced.

BBC Radio 2 also said a further artist for both days would be announced in the “coming weeks”.

Where is Radio 2 Live due to be held?

This year, Radio 2 Live was due to place at Temple Newsam Park in Leeds.
