BBC The Radio 2 Piano Room 2022: who will play including Ed Sheeran and Stereophonics - and when is it on TV?

The Radio 2 Piano Room is coming to our screens this weekend, with a star-studded line-up of performances alongside the BBC’s Concert Orchestra.

Joy Crookes and Emeli Sandé will host the hour-long programme, which features performances from Ed Sheeran, Stereophonics, and more.

What is The Radio 2 Piano Room?

The Radio 2 Piano Room will see a celebrity line-up of musicians and singers perform with the BBC Concert Orchestra.

Each artist gathers around the piano at BBC Maida Vale studios in London, to perform an array of songs.

However, the artist will be performing with brand new musical arrangements.

The event, hosted by Crookes and Sandé, is part of the biggest month-long celebration of live music in over a decade.

As part of the celebration, Ken Bruce’s mid morning show will be broadcast on Radio 2, BBC Sounds and BBC iPlayer.

When is The Radio 2 Piano Room on TV?

The Radio 2 Piano Room will air at 6:45pm on Saturday 12 March, 2022.

The one-hour episode will be on BBC Two, and will be available to watch on iPlayer after the broadcast.

Who will be playing at Radio 2’s Piano Room?

Ed Sheeran - The singer and guitarist began writing songs at age 11. His Divide album (including songs Supermarket Flowers, Shape of You and Castle on the Hill) won the Grammy Award for Best Pop Vocal Album.

Anne-Marie - This singer has been nominated for 10 Brit Awards, to date. Since 2021, she has been a coach on The Voice.

Stereophonics - The Welsh rock band formed in 1992. The band consists of Kelly Jones, Richard Jones, Adam Zindani, Jamie Morrison and touring member Tony Kirkham.

Joy Crookes - This singer-songwriter has released three extended plays since 2017 and was nominated for the Rising Star Award at the 2020 Brit Awards. Her debut studio album, Skin, was released in October 2021 and reached the top five in the UK.

Simple Minds - The Scottish rock band formed in Glasgow in 1977. Their hit single, Don’t You, topped the Billboard Hot 100 in the United States.

Natalie Imbruglia - The Australian-British singer-songwriter started as an actress in the early 1990s in the Australian soap opera, Neighbours. After leaving the programme, she did a chart-topping cover of Ednaswap’s song Torn.

Jamie Cullum -  The jazz-pop singer-songwriter and radio presenter has recorded eight studio albums, three compilation albums, one live album and 24 singles.

Emeli Sandé - The Scottish singer and songwriter rose to fame after being featured on the 2009 Chipmunk track, Diamond Rings. She also featured in Professor Green’s track, Read All About It, which debuted at number-one in the UK with sales of over 153,000 copies.

Jack Savoretti - This acoustic singer, songwriter and musician has released seven studio albums to date.

Ella Henderson - This singer and songwriter competed in the ninth series of The X Factor in 2012. She finished in sixth place despite being a strong favourite to win.

Clean Bandit - The British electronic music group formed in 2008. They have had four number one hits and ten top 10 hits on the UK Singles Chart.

Tom Odell - This singer-songwriter won the Brits Critics’ Choice Award in 2013. His debut studio album, Long Way Down, was released in 2013, and his second studio album in 2016.

Rae Morris - This English singer and songwriter released her debut album, Unguarded, in 2015. Her second album, Someone Out There, was released in January 2018

David Gray - This British singer-songwriter released his first album in 1993 and received worldwide attention after the release of White Ladder six years later.
