Elite season 5: Netflix release date, trailer, and cast with Itzan Escamilla and Ander Puig

Elite, the popular Spanish-language teen crime drama, is returning to Netflix for its fifth season on Friday 8 April.

All eight episodes of the new series of Elite will be available to stream on Netflix at once, tracing the impact of season four’s brutal cliffhanger ending.

Here’s everything you need to know about the new season of Elite.

What is it about?

Elite is a thriller set in a wealthy and exclusive secondary school, following the developing tensions between three working class scholarship students and their rich classmates. Tensions quickly turn violent, and each series sees a flashforward/flashback structure as a new murder is investigated.

Series 5 will – spoilers – open in the aftermath of Armando’s brutal murder, with the presumably shocking conclusion to series 4 reverberating through the rest of the series to come.

Who is in the cast?

Itzan Escamilla returns as Samuel, one of the Elite’s student ensemble. Outside of Elite, he’s probably best known for the period drama Cable Girls, about a group of 1920s telephone operators.

Claudira Salas plays Rebeka, another of Elite’s students. Salas is perhaps the most prolific actor outside of Elite, having previously starred in the television series La Peste. She can next be seen in La Ruta, a series that’s currently in production.

Omar Ayuso returns as Omar, again another student. Ayuso is best-known for Elite, but can next be seen in the movie 8 Años.

Other returning cast members include Georgina Amoros as Cayetana, Martina Cariddi as Mencia, Carla Diaz as Ari, Manu Rios as Patrick, Diego Martin as Benjamin, and Pol Granch as Phillipe.

Ander Puig (Ser o no ser), Ana Bokesa (2091), Valentina Zenere (Soy Luna) and the pianist Alex Pastrana amongst others have all joined the cast of Elite as new characters

Is there going to be an Elite series 6?

Yes, there is! In October 2021, Netflix announced that they’d renewed Elite for a sixth season, which is currently expected to air at some point in 2023.
