The BBC recently revealed their highest paid presenters in 2022 to 2023, Huw Edwards earned £435,000 whilst Fiona Bruce earned £395,000. Fiona Bruce, who presents Antiques Roadshow, is a frontrunner, alongside Clive Myrie, to succeed Huw Edwards as BBC News at Ten.

The Times revealed that “Myrie, 58, won praise for his coverage of the war in Ukraine after he was deployed at a moment’s notice to Kyiv for the 10 o’clock news and he also played a significant role in Queen Elizabeth’s funeral last year.”

Clive Myrie was born in Bolton, Lancashire and studied Law at the University of Sussex. In 1988, he gained a place on the BBC’s journalism trainee scheme. He has covered four Presidential races and co-anchored the coverage of Nelson Mandela’s funeral from South Africa.

In an interview with the University of Sussex, when asked “Who’s influenced your life most (and why)?” Clive replied: “My wife Catherine, by giving me the courage and space to pursue my dreams.”

Clive’s wife Catherine is an upholsterer and furniture restorer. The couple reportedly met at the London launch for a book about Swiss cheeses when Catherine worked in publishing. They married at Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Covent Garden, London.

It is not known publicly if Clive and Catherine have children. Clive’s parents came over to Bolton from Jamaica in the 1960s. Clive told The Guardian that “It was a loving family, but Dad didn’t adapt well to the UK. It was cold and the northern industrial town was alien to the Caribbean countryside he knew.”

With a salary of £395,000, Fiona Bruce is the sixth most paid BBC star. Fiona Bruce is married to advertising boss Nigel Sharrocks and the couple wed in 1994.

Fiona and her husband share two adult children, son Sam and daughter, Mia. In an interview with Good Housekeeping in 2021, spoke about balancing work with bringing up a family. “Did I spend enough time with my children? I think scratch the surface of any working woman and she will always think, ‘Probably not,’” she said.
