It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia fans (myself included) were praying that the news broken by gossip website Deux Moi wasn’t true; that our favourite couple in the world, Wrexham AFC co-chairman Rob McElhenney and Sweet Dee… sorry… actress Kaitlin Olson were not going through an issue involving an extra-marital affair.

Oh ye of little faith however that we had for Rob McElhenney (personally, I was burned in a situation like this before with Kim Gordon and Thurston Moore), when Kaitlin Olson took to Twitter to reveal what actually happened, accepting full responsibility for the extra-marital affair it would seem.

“It was me who had the affair.  But it was not with someone from Wales. It was with a whale,” she revealed to her followers and the rest of the world. “I’ve always loved whales. They’re the bosses of the ocean and I’m attracted to power. We ask for privacy as we navigate this difficult time.“

Funnily enough, we didn’t think that Whale Sharks had an instant attraction to Whales (check out her IMDB page if you don’t get the reference). However, Rob McElhenney took the opportunity to offer his response after retweeting Katilin’s announcement.

“Sad to admit that the rumor is true,” he wrote, while also including a broken love heart emoji. “However some of the details are…. Incorrect.”

The rumour regarding McElhenney and Olson was first posted as an anonymous tip to Deux Moi, with speculation that it was McElhenney who had been “unfaithful” to Olson while in Wales supporting his team alongside co-chairman Ryan Reynolds. That news was then picked up by Perez Hilton, which led to Kaitlin Olson admitting her “guilt.”

Kaitlin Olson and Rob McElhenney's relationship began in 2004, shortly before the premiere of the TV series "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia." The show, which has gained a dedicated fan base, features both Olson and McElhenney as main cast members.

Kaitlin Olson portrays Deandra "Sweet Dee" Reynolds, the only female member of the main group, known as "The Gang." Rob McElhenney plays Ronald "Mac" McDonald, one of the show's central characters, alongside being also one of the series creators and writers on the show.

In previous interviews, the pair admitted that their relationship grew during the early stages of the show's production, with McElhenney calling Olson one of the funniest women alive, but were reluctant to go public with their relationship due to calls of potential nepotism or “improper conduct” during the casting process. However, once they did reveal their relationship, they wasted no time and on September 27, 2008, Olson and McElhenney got married.

In addition to their work on the show, Kaitlin Olson and Rob McElhenney have also expanded their family; they have two sons together, Axel Lee McElhenney (born in 2010) and Leo Grey McElhenney (born in 2012).
