The 2023 King’s Birthday Honours list has been released, and there is an incredible contingent of names that are being awarded for their services to, among others, the fields of entertainment, art, music and sport. Peopleworld have poured over the 156 page list and were pleased with some of the names included this year.

Among those names getting honours this include perennial Peopleworld favourite Davina McCall, who is being awarded for her services to entertainment - having come a long way from her early days getting strangers together on Channel 4’s ‘Streetmate’ series and asking housemates not to swear during live ‘Big Brother’ programmes from back in the day.

Former footballer turned television presenter Ian Wright will also be awarded, more for his contributions to sport rather than his contributions to the entertainment industry, which Arsenal fans will quite rightly celebrate after the sad finale to the team’s Premier League season. Scottish actor of stage and screen Kenneth Cranham has also been awarded an honour for services to the arts and entertainment.

Known more now for her work with those suffering with dementia through her choir than merely just playing “Lol” in the iconic series “This Is England,” Vicky McClure will also be awarded an honour for her services to entertainment and Eniola Aluko, who has transitioned from a career as a footballer to a football pundit, will also receive an honour for her services to sport after bringing her glittering career to a close in January 2020.

Away from our list, there are congratulations in order too for Dame Anna Wintour, editor-in-chief of Vogue magazine, who compliments her damehood with an Companion Of Honour, with the title DBE as part of the 2023 honours.
