But even in their new home in the tranquil, remote setting of the Ozark lakes, the family cannot escape trouble, and find themselves descending into further complications.

Netflix has just released the first teaser trailer for the upcoming series of the acclaimed drama, so here is everything you need to know about Season 4, from who will be starring in it to where the plot might take you.

What will happen in Season 4?

The Ozark Season 4 teaser gives viewers a recap of significant events that happened during the previous three seasons, and suggests the Byrde family’s past decisions will have consequences in the final instalment of the show.

“Marty and Wendy are rid of Helen and climb to the top of Navarro’s empire,” reads the Season 4 synopsis. “They find another opportunity to get out of the Ozarks but some past sins won’t stay buried and the most dangerous threats come from blood.”

In October, showrunner Chris Mundy told Variety he was glad that the series would have a concluding season.

He said: “We’re so happy Netflix recognised the importance of giving ‘Ozark’ more time to end the Byrdes’ saga right.

“It’s been such a great adventure for all of us — both on screen and off — so we’re thrilled to get the chance to bring it home in the most fulfilling way possible.”

Who stars in it?

Jason Bateman (Arrested Development, The Outsider) will return as Marty, Laura Linney (The Big C, Tales of the City) as Wendy, Sofia Hublitz (Louie) as their daughter Charlotte and Skylar Gaertner (Daredevil, The Americans) as their youngest, Jonah.

Joseph Sikora (Power, True Detective), Felix Solis (SEAL Team, Ten Days in the Valley) and Jessica Frances Dukes (Jessica Jones, New Amsterdam) will also be reprising their roles.

But there will be some new faces too.

Alfonso Herrera will play Javi Elizonndro, Navarro's nephew, while Adam Rothenberg will play Mel Sattem, a disgraced ex-cop turned P.I.

When can I watch it?

Season 4 of Ozark will be released in two parts, consisting of seven episodes each.

Part 1 will be released on Netflix on 21 January 2022.
