The second season of The Beaker Girls, based on characters created by acclaimed children’s author Jacqueline Wilson, returns to CBBC. The new season will tackle major issues including cyber bullying, foster care, and first loves.

It will also see iconic Tracy Beaker characters return, including The Story of Tracy Beaker antagonist Justine Littelwood, and the show’s titular star. What is The Beaker Girls season 2 about?

Season two of The Beaker Girls follows Tracy Beaker, now a mother, as she lives in a British seaside town with her daughter, Jess. But, when Jess’ dad comes back into the picture and decides that he wants his daughter to live with him rather than her mother, Tracy’s life could be turned upside down.

The CBBC plot synopsis for the second season states: "Jess is looking forward to a great summer, with Tracy on the verge of fostering runaway teen Jordan, and her dad Si and his family visiting Cooksea for the holidays.

"But inevitably things don’t go smoothly: Jess has to cope with cyber bullying, experiences her first crush, gets involved in environmental protests and is even faced with the prospect of being parted from Tracy when Si wants to become her resident parent. With misunderstandings rife, relationships become tangled and friendships strained… but love is in the air for some!"

Who is in the cast of The Beaker Girls season 2?

Dani Harmer will return as Tracy Beaker - a role she has played since 2002 in several shows and TV movies. Harmer has also previously starred as a fictionalised version of herself in the sitcoms Dani’s House and Dani’s Castle. Other cast members include:

The new season of The Beaker Girls will air on CBBC on Friday 13 January at 6pm - there will be 12 episodes in season two and they will be released at the same time weekly and be available to watch on BBC iPlayer shortly after they have first aired. Season two of The Beaker Girls has been confirmed as the final series of The Beaker Girls. The series is the sixth Tracy Beaker TV series, following The Story of Tracy Beaker, The Tracy Beaker Survival Files, Tracy Beaker Returns, The Dumping Ground, and My Mum Tracy Beaker. Another show based on the life of Tracy Beaker has not yet been confirmed - but watch this space for updates on upcoming projects.
