HBO’s new dramady The White Lotus has finally made its way across the Atlantic and is available to watch in the UK.

The show follows the have and have-nots on a Hawaiian beach resort, and has been making waves in the US thanks to its stellar ensemble performance and razor sharp comedy.

The show has been a hit with critics and HBO has said it is the number one series on its HBO Max streaming service.

Written by School of Rock star Mike White, HBO’s executive vice president of programming - Francesca Orsi - said in a statement: “Mike has once again delivered a quintessential HBO show, and it’s the talk of the town.”

Here is everything you need to know about it.

What is The White Lotus about?

The White Lotus is a new HBO miniseries set at a hotel resort of the same name in Hawaii, a dreamy getaway designed to cater to visitors’ whims.

Set over the span of a week, the show follows various hotel guests and the team of workers at the resort.

With each passing day on the resort, the show begins to reveal a darker, more complex picture of the luxurious guests, and each episode begins to show the tensions between the guests and the hotel employees grow to an unbearable level.

Recovering drug addict Armond (Murray Bartlett) is manager of the White Lotus; flanked by his staff including spa manager Belinda (Natasha Rothwell) and fresh-faced trainee Lani (Jolene Purdy), he goes the extra mile in his slice of paradise.

However, he faces stern challenges from some of the guests including newlyweds Shane (Jake Lacy) and Rachel (Alexandra Daddario), and grief-stricken Tanya (Jennifer Coolidge), who intends to spread her mother’s ashes in tropical surroundings.

Who’s in the cast?

The show features an impressive ensemble cast, including Legally Blonde’s Jennifer Coolidge as Tanya McQuoid, a troubled woman whose mother recently died.

Alongside her is Nashville and Dirty John actress Connie Britton as Nicole Mossbacher - a CFO of a search engine - and her husband Mark, played by Modern Family’s Steve Zahn.

Also in the cast is Baywatch’s Alexandra Daddario as journalist Rachel, who is newly wed to real estate agent Shany Lacy - played by The Office star. Jack Lacy.

Euphoria’s Sydney Sweeney also features as Olivia Mossbacher, Nicole and Mark's sardonic daughter who is a college sophomore, while Looking actor Murray Bartlett plays the manager of the White Lotus resort.

The series also features Brittany O’Grady, Natasha Rothwell, Molly Shannon, Jon Gries, Jolene Purdy, Kekoa Kekumano, and Lukas Gage.

Will there be a Season 2?

The White Lotus has been renewed for a second season, network HBO has said.

The six-part class satire, created by School Of Rock writer Mike White, is set at an exclusive Hawaiian resort where not all is as it seems.

Its cast includes Murray Bartlett, Jennifer Coolidge and Sydney Sweeney.

The next season leaves the Aloha State behind and follows a new group of holidaymakers at another White Lotus property.

Orsi said: “We were thrilled to hear where he wanted to go next, after closing this epic chapter in Hawaii, and can’t wait to keep following him wherever he takes us.”

How can I watch it?

The White Lotus premiered on Sky Atlantic and NOW TV on 16 August.

The show is available to stream with a NOW Entertainment Membership or through a Sky TV Entertainment Package.
