Walter Presents is Channel 4’s specially curated strand of international drama, bringing everything from Nordic crime dramas to Italian political thrillers to UK audiences since 2016.

Some previous shows featured by Walter that have proven particularly popular include French series Time is a Killer, Italian thriller The Hunter, and German drama Deutschland 83.

Here’s everything that’s currently been announced as coming soon to Walter Presents on Channel 4.

What is Walter Presents?

Walter Presents is a specially curated showcase of award-winning foreign language drama. Each series is introduced by Walter Iuzzolino, the producer and passionate drama fan who partnered with Channel 4 to bring a wider array of television to different audiences.

You can find Walter Presents dramas as boxsets on All4. Individual Walter Presents dramas are broadcast on Channel 4 as well.

Rig 45: Murder at Sea Season 2

What’s it about? Serial killer Petra agrees to assist in the investigation into a new murderer on a new rig only if she’s allowed to join the team - but quickly escapes, let loose on a rig that’s been marked for destruction by the government. It’s a race against time to find Petra before she strikes again… unless she isn’t the only murderer aboard.

Who’s in it? Lisa Henni, Natalie Gumede, and Ciarán McMenamin star in this 6x60min Swedish drama from creators Ola Norén and Roland Ulvselius.    

How can I watch it? Rig 45: Murder at Sea will air at 9pm on More4 on Friday 4 August, with new episodes airing weekly. You’ll also be able to watch each episode on Channel 4 online (though note that it’ll be following the same weekly release pattern as the traditional broadcast). 

Enemy of the People

What’s it about? A young reporter causes a stir when she writes an article critical of a local footballing hero - and invites suspicion when he turns up dead days later. As she investigates the truth and learns the footballer may have been on the verge of uncovering a grand conspiracy, the young reporter starts to realise it’s more than just her reputation at stake - it’s her life.  

Who’s in it? Kreeta Salminen, Raül Tortosa, and Aina Cotet star in this 8x60min Finnish paranoia thriller from creators Mikko Kuparinen, Laura Suhonen, and Timo Varpio.

How can I watch it? Enemy of the People will be available to watch as part of a boxset on Channel 4 online from Friday 4 August.

Sløborn ● Sunday 16 July

What’s it about? After a boat introduces a vicious strain of bird flu to an isolated island community, panic sets in; an increasingly desperate government does anything they can to find a cure, and people are forced to make decisions they’ll have to live with together. From 2019.

Who’s in it? Emily Kusche, Alexander Scheer, and Aaron Hilmer star in this 8x60min German/Danish from creator Christian Alvart.

How can I watch it? Sløborn will launch on Channel 4 on Sunday 16 July at 11pm, with the full series available as a boxset on Channel 4 online from Friday 14 July.

Disturbing Disappearances ● Friday 14 July

What’s it about? After a local teacher is murdered, nine school children appear to vanish without a trace. Each episode, the team investigate a new disappearance in Montclair - but will they find the victims before it’s too late? 

Who’s in it? Pierre Rochefort, Sara Forestier, and Bruno Dreyfurst star in this 5x90 min French crime drama from creators Arnauld Mercadier, Stéphanie Pillonca, and Johanne Rigoulot.  

How can I watch it? Disturbing Disappearances is set to begin on Friday 14 July at 9pm on More4, with new episodes airing weekly. You’ll also be able to watch the series on Channel 4 streaming online (where, again, episodes are airing weekly - the series won’t be available as a boxset until the television broadcast concludes in August).

Actor ● Friday 7 July

What’s it about? A coming of age story set in the vibrant theatre scene of 1950s Prague, following aspiring actor Jakub Novák. Is his determination and ambition enough to propel him to the highest echelons of professional acting - or will he have to betray people and sacrifice his artistic integrity along the way?

Who’s in it? Jan Cina, Jenovéfa Boková, Martin Finger, Jan Nedbal, and Adrian Jastraban star in this award winning 3x80 minute Czech drama from creators Peter Bebjak, Petr Bok, and Pavel Gotthard.

How can I watch it? Actor will be available to stream online as a boxset via Channel 4 from Friday 7 July.

Spiral of Lies ● Sunday 25 June

What’s it about? The body of a young woman is discovered on the Basque Coast. While the police believe it to be a crime of passion, a successful lawyer from Paris is convinced that this young woman was the victim of Itsas - a prolific serial killer who tried to kill her many years previously. As the lawyer investigates her own attempted murder to try and solve the case of the body on the beach, she uncovers secrets that put both her professional life - and her actual life - at risk…

Who’s in it? Camille Lou, Thierry Neuvic, and Marilyn Lima star in this French crime drama from creator Bénédicte Charles.

How can I watch it? Spiral of Lies will be available to stream in full as a boxset on Channel 4 online from Friday 23 June, with the first episode receiving a television broadcast on Channel 4 at midnight on Sunday 25 June.

The Marnow Murders ● Friday 16 June

What’s it about? After a spate of killings in the small lakeside city of Schwerin, local detectives Elling and Mendt race to find the culprit. The victims seem to have little in common - or, at least, they do at first. A chilling message carved into the first victim’s scalp seems to highlight a path to the killer - but can Elling and Mendt track them down before their corrupt colleagues end the investigation for good?

Who’s in it? Petra Schmidt-Schaller, Sascha Alexander Gersak, and Alexandra Gottschlich star in this 8x45 min German drama from creators Holger Karsten Schmidt and Andreas Herzog.

How can I watch it? The Marnow Murders will be available to stream online as a boxset via Channel 4’s online platform (formerly All4) from Friday 16 June.

Who is Walter Iuzzolino?

The Walter of Walter Presents, Iuzzolino is a television producer and drama fan. He selects the dramas that are featured as part of Walter Presents, acting as curator for the strand. Iuzzolino founded Walter Presents alongside Jason Thorp and Jo McGrath.

As a producer, some of the series he’s been personally involved in in the UK include The Undateables and My Big Fat Fetish, as well as the English-language remakes of Professor T, Before We Die, and Suspect.
