Here’s everything you need to know about Wellington Paranormal season 4.

What is it about?

Wellington Paranormal is a spinoff of What We Do In The Shadows, a mockumentary about a vampire house share.

The series sees two police officers (who featured briefly in the 2014 film) investigating different supernatural incidents around New Zealand – think something a little like a comic take on The X Files.

Who is in the cast of Wellington Paranormal season 4?

Mike Minogue stars as Officer Kyle Minogue (no relation, as far I can tell). Outside of Wellington Paranormal, Minogue is best known for an appearance in Hunt for the Wilderpeople, another film by Taika Waititi.

Karen O’Leary stars as Officer O’Leary. Again best known for her role on Wellington Paranormal, O’Leary was a teacher before she was an actor, and presented a number of educational programmes on New Zealand television during the early days of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Maaka Pohatu plays Sergeant Ruawai Maaka. Pohatu is otherwise best-known as a musician, having been one of the founding members of Māori showband the Modern Māori Quartet.

The series was created by Jemaine Clement and Paul Yates. Clement is best-known as one half of the Flight of the Concords comedy music duo, and a frequent collaborator with Taika Waititi; Clement is also the lead writer on the FX series What We Do In The Shadows.

Further episodes of Wellington Paranormal have been written by award-winning comedian Melanie Bracewell also.

Is there a trailer?

Unfortunately, there is not.

Where and how can I watch it?

Season 4 of Wellington Paranormal begins on Sky and NOW TV on Tuesday 6 April.

All six episodes of Wellington Paranormal season 4 will be available to stream at once.

Is season 4 the final series of Wellington Paranormal?

Unfortunately for fans of the offbeat supernatural comedy, yes, it draws to a close with its fourth – and also final – season.

Why should I watch Wellington Paranormal?

Because What We Do In The Shadows is very funny, and this comedy from the same team and set in the same world offers a similar style of supernatural laughter.
