Emmerdale actor Danny Miller has been crowned as the winner of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!.

The soap star, 30, triumphed over Coronation Street’s Simon Gregson during Sunday night’s final at Gwrych Castle near Abergele in North Wales.

Saturdays singer Frankie Bridge placed third and was eliminated earlier in the night.

After presenters Ant and Dec announced he had won the competition, Miller was handed the winner’s sceptre and a floral crown before being named King of the Castle.

But how much does Miller stand to make from his triumph? What sort of prize money is on offer for I’m A Celebrity contestants?

Here is everything you need to know.

Who is Danny Miller?

Miller started his career in children’s drama series Grange Hill in 2007 but is best known for playing fan favourite Aaron Dingle in the long-running ITV soap Emmerdale.

He has featured on and off for the past 13 years, and has picked up numerous awards for the role, including three British Soap Awards for best actor in 2011, 2012 and 2016.

Miller has also received four National Television Award nominations for serial drama performance over the years.

As Dingle, he has been involved in some of Emmerdale’s most headline-grabbing storylines, such as coming to terms with his sexuality as a gay man, a suicide attempt and self-harm.

Just before he entered the Welsh castle, the actor announced he was leaving his long-standing role so he could focus on his fiancee and newborn son.

Miller is engaged to Steph Jones and they welcomed their son Albert on October 25.

What is the prize money for I’m A Celeb?

Unfortunately for the celebrities taking part, there is no cash prize made available for those crowned King or Queen of the Jungle/Castle.

Rumours have swirled for years as to whether or not a financial bonus is awarded to each series’ winner, but as it stands, no such prize is publicly acknowledged.

As part of this year’s series finale, hosts Ant and Dec appeared to once again shut down rumours of winners receiving a cash prize.

As viewers continued to vote for their 2021 winner, the duo made a quip about the lack of prize money for whoever won.

Ant said: “Whoever that is, tomorrow morning they’ll look at their bank account and think one thing...” before Dec added: “Why did I spend three weeks doing a TV show that doesn’t have a cash prize?”

What do contestants receive?

What is known is that those taking part often get a substantial participating fee - they just don’t receive any monetary bonus should they win a series.

That fee is set no matter how long a contestant stays on the show - whether they are booted out early or go on to win the whole thing - but the amount each celebrity is paid depends greatly on their profile.

For instance, Olympic champion Sir Mo Farah reportedly took home a massive £300,000 for his stint on the 2020 series, whereas Corrie icon Beverley Callard took home a reported £125,00 and dancer AJ Pritchard was paid £50,000, according to The Sun.

But outside of any monetary gain from the show itself, those who do well in the competition will likely see their public profile increase, leading to more bookings and appearances on other shows, so it can be well worth doing.

During the final episode, Miller told presenters Ant and Dec he had gone on the show to secure his child’s future financially.

He said: “I have made no secret about the fact that I wanted to be able to give him and set him up for a good future. I wasn’t financially set for that and this is an opportunity to do that.

“It would set me and my family up. I feel like I have done it. I feel proud of myself and I hope my family are as well.”
