British teenager, 14, dies from peanut allergy reaction while on Rome family holiday

The teenager, named only as Skylar, died at the San Camillo hospital in the Italian capital after going into anaphylactic shock, local media reported today (Tuesday, October 29).

Hide AdShe had been eating at a restaurant in the Gianicolense neighbourhood on Thursday. Emergency workers tried to revive her and get her breathing again but were unsuccessful.
Skylar passed away shortly after being rushed to hospital. The girl was on holiday with her parents and the family reportedly went to lunch at a restaurant not far from their hotel.
At the end of the meal, they ordered some desserts. They then returned to their hotel, where they were supposed to get ready to go for a walk.

Hide AdSkylar, however, immediately began to feel ill and to show signs of what was anaphylactic shock. It is believed that the dessert she ate could have contained traces of peanuts.
The local prosecutor's office has opened an investigation into the girl's tragic death.
They will be investigating if the girl had informed the restaurant about her peanut allergy and if she was served food containing ingredients to which she was allergic.
