Over 47 million people in the UK received at least one vaccine dose and the rollout has now been extended to 16 and 17 year-olds in England in a bid to boost immunity before pupils return to school in early September.
However, there are still millions of people who remain completely unvaccinated, while others are still waiting to receive their crucial second dose to ensure maximum protection.
If you have yet to take up the offer of a Covid-19 vaccine, or are due to attend your second appointment soon, it is normal to experience some side effects after your jab.
Symptoms are typically worse after the second dose, although some people may not notice any side effects at all.
Most symptoms are mild in nature and should usually last no longer than a week, but more rare side effects can occur in a very small number of cases.
People aged under 40 will be offered the Pfizer or Moderna Covid-19 vaccines, while older age groups may receive AstraZeneca.
Listed are 13 side effects commonly associated with these vaccines and how long they usually last.

5. Headache
A headache is one of the most common side effects of the Covid jab, but can be relieved by taking some paracetamol. If you experience a new, severe headache which is not helped by painkillers, or gets worse when bending down and is accompanied by blurred vision, nausea or vomiting from around four days to four weeks after your jab, you should seek urgent medical advice. 6. Chills and fever
It is common to feel feverish after your jab, which may include a high temperature, sweating, red skin, or shivers. This is a sign that your immune system is responding and is a normal reaction. Symptoms can be relieved with rest, drinking plenty of fluids and taking paracetamol or ibuprofen if you feel uncomfortable. Photo: Shutterstock

7. Nausea and vomiting
In some cases the Covid vaccine could make you feel, or be, sick afterwards. This should not be a long-lasting symptom and can be relieved by getting fresh air, and drinking cold drinks, or ginger or peppermint tea. Photo: Shutterstock

8. Diarrhoea
Diarrhoea can be a side effect of the vaccine in some cases, although this symptom is less common and only affects up to one in 10 people. Photo: Shutterstock
