Pavers store closures: Major shoe shop closes branch today - days after Quiz clothing went into administation - will any more shops close?
Shoe brand Pavers have shocked customers by suddenly closing one of their shops - just days after clothing brand Quiz went in to administation.
Shoe store Pavers have more than 170 stores nationwide, but by the end of today they’ll have one less as they’ve announced a sudden store closure.
The branch in Plymouth city centre will close today (Sunday February 8), much to the disappointment of local shoppers.
A sign in the window of the New George Street branch told shoppers: “Sorry, this store is closing down. But don’t worry, this isn’t a goodbye. Your nearest store is: Plymouth, The Barbican.”
The reason for the closure has not been confirmed. It is also unknown if any staff at the city centre store will lose their jobs or if they will be relocated to other stores.
Pavers is a business with a history that spans more than 50 years. It was founded in 1971. A spokesperson for Pavers told PlymouthLive: “We don’t give formal comments on store closures, however I can confirm that the Plymouth Barbican store is remaining open.”
It is not known if any more stores will close.

The Pavers branch shutting down comes just days after clothing brand Quiz went into administration. The brand announced it had entered administration on Thursday (February 5), with 109 jobs cut at head office and its warehouse.
All 40 UK stores continue trading for now but the retailer’s website has closed, affecting online shopping, returns and gift cards. A message on the brand’s website reads: “We regret to tell you that Quiz is currently offline. Our stores will remain open for a period of time. We are grateful to everyone that has supported us over the years.”
It is unclear how long the stores will remain open for. Customers who have online orders they wish to return are advised to go to their local store for a replacement or substitute item. Customers have been advised that no cash or card refunds will be provided and gift cards and credit notes will not be honoured.
Quiz was founded in 1993. Back in 2017, it had more than 275 shops in the United Kingdom and more than fifty shops in other parts of Europe and Asia.[
