Mobile World Congress 2022 marks a momentous annual milestone for the latest and greatest in mobile technology and innovation globally.

Bringing together leading mobile companies, such as Nokia, Orange and Samsung, it is the place to unveil new products and show off the latest technology innovations – from folding phones to 5G, and even 6G and the Metaverse.

Renowned for talking about the trends that are shaping the digitisation of our lifestyles and the industries around us, this year’s Mobile World Congress is set to reconnect and reignite.

“Mobile World Congress truly is the Olympics of Telecoms,” said Brian Dolby, founder and president of Proactive International PR, and a Mobile World Congress veteran having been to the event for more than 20 years.

“Every February the annual event unleashes the most innovative mobile technologies which set the competitive bar for technology development. This year, as the event makes a post-COVID comeback, close attention is on the latest in 5G networks, Artificial Intelligence (AI), consumer mobile devices, cloud technology as well as the Internet of Everything, and more.”

What is Mobile World Congress?

Mobile World Congress (MWC) is the world’s largest and most influential connectivity event, gathering more than 100,000 people together every year.

Stretching across seven halls, it features 1,500 exhibitors from all over the world.

Alongside the exhibition, attendees have the chance to listen to individuals driving the mobile industry forward with various conference tracks taking place.

Speakers from Amazon Web Services, Nokia, Vodafone Group and Telstra, to name a few, will talk on topics such as 5G, Artificial Intelligence and smart mobility.

When is Mobile World Congress 2022?

After postponing last year’s event to June and a cancelled event in 2020, the annual event is back in its usual time slot and will take place from Monday 28 February to Thursday 3 March.

Where is Mobile World Congress 2022 held?

Since the first event in 1990 in Rome, Mobile World Congress has also been hosted in Nice, Berlin, Lisbon, Athens, and Madrid, before setting in 1996 in Cannes for 10 years.

Since 2006, the flagship event has gathered thousands in Barcelona where it has paved the way for next-generation wireless technologies as we know it today.

Who is attending Mobile World Congress 2022?

Although some companies have dropped out this year such as Lenovo and Sony Mobile, more than 1,500 others will attend.

This includes the likes of Amazon, Orange and Huawei representing the mobile industry such as the manufacturers and network equipment providers, internet service providers and mobile designers.

Eyes and ears are on the latest mobile developments from Samsung who in previous years announced its folding phone at MWC.

Plus, don’t miss Meta who will have no less than 18 stands at the exhibition and reveal how the metaverse is the next evolution of social connection.
